    Abstract: Energy storage devices, battery cells, and batteries of the present technology may include a first battery cell. The first battery cell may include an anode current collector, and an anode active material disposed on the anode current collector. The first battery cell may include a cathode current collector and a cathode active material disposed on the cathode current collector. The current collectors may be polymeric materials. The batteries may include a first conductive band electrically coupled with the first battery cell. The first conductive band may be seated on the second surface of one of the anode current collector or the cathode current collector. The first conductive band may extend about a perimeter of the one of the anode current collector or the cathode current collector. The batteries may include a cell module including a first flexible extension electrically coupled with the first conductive band.

    Abstract: An optical proximity sensor includes a first vertical cavity surface-emitting laser configured for self-mixing interferometry to determine distance to and/or velocity of an object. The optical proximity sensor also includes a second vertical cavity surface-emitting laser configured for self-mixing interferometry to determine whether any variation in a fixed distance has occurred. The optical proximity sensor leverages output from the second vertical cavity surface-emitting laser to calibrate output from the second vertical cavity surface-emitting laser to eliminate and/or mitigate environmental effects, such as temperature changes.

    Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform methods for configuring a power savings signal in fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) networks. The wireless device may transmit, to a base station within a network, power savings requirements and receiving, from the base station, a configuration of a power saving signal, where the configuration indicates one or more functionalities of the power saving signal. The wireless device may periodically receive, from the base station, the power saving signal and interpret the power saving signal based on the configuration.     Abstract: This application sets forth techniques for authenticating a mobile device with a cellular wireless network without electronic Subscriber Identity Module (eSIM) credentials by using an Extensible Authentication Protocol Transport Layer Security (EAP-TLS) procedure. The mobile device authenticates with an Authentication Server Function (AUSF) of the cellular wireless network using an embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card (eUICC) certificate. Processing circuitry of the mobile wireless device external to the eUICC implements the EAP-TLS procedure and authenticates validity of the AUSF. In some embodiments, the eUICC provides key generation and storage for a session key for communication between the mobile device and the cellular wireless network. In some embodiments, a third-party managed Unified Data Management (UDM) broker authenticates the mobile device based on knowledge of the eUICC certificate and provides a session key to the cellular wireless network for subsequent communication with the mobile device, upon successful authentication of the mobile device.

    Abstract: In some implementations, the disclosed techniques may include tuning a first antenna element to a first tuning state during an acquisition mode for establishing communication channels with satellites. The first tuning state can configure the first antenna element to receive signals in a first frequency range. The techniques may include establishing the communication channels using the first antenna element in the first tuning state during the acquisition mode. The techniques may include transitioning from the acquisition mode to a tracking mode. The techniques may include changing the tuning state of the first antenna element. The techniques may include determining a location of the mobile device during the tracking mode: (1) using the first antenna element and a second antenna element of the mobile device or (2) not using the first antenna element and using the second antenna element that is configured to receive signals in a second frequency range.
