Abstract: A wound debridement system includes a wound dressing having an active layer and a wound interface layer. The active layer is formed from one or more drive elements arranged about a film layer, by which the drive elements are attached to the wound interface layer. Activation of the drive elements is configured to cause the movement of the wound interface layer relative to a tissue site to which the wound dressing is applied. The drive elements may include one or more drive members formed of a material having a shape memory effect configured to transition the drive members between expanded and collapsed configurations and/or one or more motors configured to translate or oscillate the active layer. The wound interface layer may be formed having an abrasive wound-facing surface, such that the movement of the wound interface layer causes a mechanical disruption and debridement of debris at the tissue site.

Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site with negative pressure may comprise a first polymer film having a plurality of fluid restrictions, and a second polymer film comprising a plurality of standoffs disposed adjacent to the first polymer film. The first polymer film and the second polymer film may be substantially transparent to allow observation of the tissue site. In some embodiments, at least some of the standoffs may be offset from the fluid restrictions. The second polymer film may comprise fluid passages adjacent to the standoffs in some examples.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process of producing a surface-modified non-metallic dental article, the process comprising the steps of providing a non-metallic dental article having an outer and an inner surface, applying a curable composition on the inner surface of the dental article (to form a layer of the curable composition on the inner surface), applying particles on the curable composition located on the inner surface of the dental article to achieve a surface roughness Ra of 1 to 30 μm, curing the applied curable composition, the chemical composition of the curable composition being different from the chemical composition of the dental article. The invention also relates to a surface-modified non-metallic dental article obtained or obtainable by such a process and a kit of parts comprising such a surface-modified non-metallic dental article and a dental cement.

Abstract: A system for providing a force to a desired area on a curved body part of a person includes a dressing assembly shaped and configured to be placed on the desired area of the person, a releaseable circumferential member surrounding the curved body part that holds the dressing assembly against the desired area, a sealing subsystem for providing a fluid seal over the dressing assembly and the person's skin, and a reduced-pressure subsystem for providing a reduced pressure to the dressing assembly. When reduced pressure is supplied, the system generates the force against the desired area on the curved body part.

Abstract: A system for repositioning teeth a patient from an initial tooth arrangement to a final tooth arrangement includes a plurality of incremental position adjustment appliances, each having an arrangement of cavities shaped to receive and reposition teeth of the patient. The cavities in at least one appliance in the system have a different geometry than that of at least one other appliance in the system. At least some of the appliances in the system are successively worn by the patient to exert force on at least one tooth and move the teeth of the patient from a first arrangement to a successive arrangement different from the first arrangement. The system includes a first multilayer shell with a bending stiffness factor less than about 0.1 GPa*mm3 and an elastic modulus no greater than about 1.5 GPa; and a second shell with a bending stiffness factor greater than 0.1 GPa*mm3.

Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site may include a base layer, a sealing member, a first and a second wicking layer, and an absorbent layer. The base layer may have a plurality of apertures and may be adapted to cover the tissue site. The sealing member and the base layer may define an enclosure. The first and the second wicking layer may each be disposed in the enclosure with the absorbent layer positioned between the first and the second wicking layer. A conduit comprised of an absorbent material that is vapor permeable and liquid impermeable may be in fluid communication with the dressing for providing reduced pressure to the dressing. Other dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: Provided are adhesive articles that include a silicone adhesive and a substrate, with a primer layer interposed between the silicone adhesive and the substrate. The primer layer includes a polymer having a polyorganosiloxane pendant group P represented by the formula (I) where each R1 is independently an alkyl, haloalkyl, arylalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or aryl substituted with an alkyl, alkoxy, or halo; R2 is an alkyl or an alkenyl group; R3 is an alkylene or an arylalkylene group; and n is an integer in the range of 1 to 20. The primer layer typically improves the adhesion between the silicone adhesive and a wide variety of substrates.
