Abstract: Some embodiments of a manifold pad may be configured to distribute reduced pressure relative to a tissue site and to provide instillation to the tissue site. In some embodiments, the manifold pad may comprise open-cell foam and at least one skinned channel extending through the open-cell foam. The at least one skinned channel may be configured so that the skin is substantially impermeable to liquid, preventing liquid within the channel from seeping into the open-cell foam. In some embodiments, this may allow for two isolated pathways for fluid movement through the manifold pad. Some dressing embodiments may utilize such a manifold pad in conjunction with a treatment device. Other apparatus, dressings, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative pressure to a tissue site are disclosed. Illustrative embodiments may include an apparatus or system for delivering negative-pressure to a tissue site, which can be used in conjunction with low-profile distribution components for wound therapy. Such apparatus may include a low-profile dressing interface or connector comprising at least two side-by-side fluid pathways fluidly coupled to a recessed space of the connector, one for providing negative pressure to a tissue interface or manifold and the other for sensing the negative pressure within the recessed space adjacent the tissue interface. In some embodiments, for example, the apparatus may comprise a first layer of polymeric film having an outer surface, an inner surface, and a plurality of features extending from the inner surface, and a second layer of polymeric film coupled to the first layer. The second layer may have an outer, tissue-facing surface and an inner surface coupled to the first layer and covering the plurality of features to form an enclosed space with the inner surface of the first layer and a plurality of flow channels within the enclosed space. The second layer also includes an aperture defining the recessed space adapted to fluidly coupling the enclosed space to the tissue interface.

Abstract: A reduced-pressure treatment system for applying reduced pressure to a tissue site at a limited-access location on a patient includes a reduced-pressure source, a treatment manifold for placing proximate the tissue site and operable to distribute reduced pressure to the tissue site, and a sealing member for placing over the tissue site and operable to form a pneumatic seal over the tissue site. The reduced-pressure treatment system also includes a reduced-pressure bridge and a moisture-removing device on at least portion of the reduced-pressure bridge. The reduced-pressure bridge includes a delivery manifold operable to transfer the reduced pressure to the treatment manifold, an encapsulating envelope at least partially enclosing the delivery manifold and having a patient-facing side, and a reduced-pressure-interface site formed proximate one end of the reduced-pressure bridge.

Abstract: Embodiments of secure wound therapy systems and methods for operating the systems are disclosed. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a pressure source, a user interface, and a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism can be in one of at least two states, the at least two states including a first state in which the locking mechanism physically prevents user adjustment of one or more operational parameters with the user interface and a second state in which the locking mechanism does not physically prevent user adjustment of the one or more operational parameters with the user interface. The locking mechanism can include an authentication key and a receiver configured to receive an authentication input, which may be compared to the authentication key. Providing a sufficiently matching authentication input can transition the locking mechanism from the first state to the second state, permitting adjustments to the one or more operational parameters.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for instilling fluid to a tissue site in a negative-pressure therapy environment are described, Illustrative embodiments may include a pneumatically-actuated instillation pump that can draw a solution from a solution source during a negative-pressure interval, and instill the solution to a dressing during a venting interval. In one example embodiment, a system for providing negative-pressure and instillation to a tissue site may comprise a negative-pressure device and an instillation device. The negative-pressure device may comprise a negative-pressure source and a controller electrically coupled to the negative-pressure source. The instillation device may comprise a dosing valve having a dosing chamber including a dosing outlet configured to be fluidly coupled to a fluid port and a dosing inlet configured to be fluidly coupled to a source of instillation solution. The dosing valve may also have a working chamber including a biasing element operably engaged to the dosing chamber and configured to be fluidly coupled to the negative-pressure source. In some embodiments of the system, the instillation device may further comprise a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with the controller, and at least one sensor coupled to the wireless transceiver to provide a signal indicative of an operating condition of the dosing valve, and wherein the wireless transceiver is configured to communicate the at least one signal to the controller.
