    Abstract: A fuel pump includes a fuel pump housing with a pumping chamber; a pumping plunger which reciprocates within a plunger bore; and an inlet valve assembly. The inlet valve assembly includes a check valve member which is moveable between an unseated position which provides fluid communication between the pumping chamber and a fuel supply passage and a seated position which prevents fluid communication between the pumping chamber and the fuel supply passage; and a solenoid assembly which includes a wire winding; a pole piece; an armature which is moveable between a first position when the wire winding is not energized and a second position when the wire winding is energized; a return spring which biases the armature away from the pole piece; and a control rod which is moveable along the inlet valve axis independently of the armature.

    Abstract: A rocker arm includes an outer arm defining a lock pin bore which is centered about a lock pin bore axis and an inner arm which selectively pivots relative to the outer arm about a pivot axis which is parallel to the lock pin bore axis. The inner arm includes a protrusion which defines an inner arm stop surface which is planar. A lock pin is disposed within the lock pin bore, the lock pin having a lock pin slot extending thereinto and also having a lock pin stop surface which is planar. The lock pin is displaced within the lock pin bore between a coupled position in which the lock pin stop surface is aligned with the inner arm stop surface and a decoupled position in which the lock pin slot is aligned with the protrusion.

    Abstract: A fluid pump includes an inlet plate with an inlet; an outlet plate, the outlet plate having an outlet plate outlet passage; an outlet; an electric motor having a shaft which rotates; a pumping element coupled to the shaft such that rotation of the pumping element by the shaft causes fluid to be pumped from the inlet to the outlet, the inlet plate interfacing with the pumping element in an inlet sealing surface interface and the outlet plate interfacing with the pumping element in an outlet sealing surface interface; a purge passage which receives fluid from the outlet plate outlet passage, the purge passage being in fluid communication with the inlet sealing surface interface and the outlet sealing surface interface; and a filter downstream of the outlet plate outlet passage which filters fluid that passes through the purge passage prior to reaching the inlet and outlet sealing surface interfaces.

    Abstract: A method of detecting a valve opening or closing event in a solenoid operated reductant injector valve includes applying a voltage to the solenoid to actuate the valve, the voltage having a chopped waveform. A resultant current through the solenoid is sampled at local maxima and minima. Values of a difference between the local maxima and subsequent local minima or between local minima and subsequent local maxima are determined. A rate of change of the difference values are determined and a valve opening or closing event based on the rate of change is determined.

    Abstract: A fluid pump includes an inlet for introducing fluid into the fluid pump and an outlet for discharging the fluid from the fluid pump. A motor is included having an armature which rotates about an axis. The motor also has a stator which circumferentially surrounds the armature such that a fluid passage is defined radially between the armature and stator through which the fluid flows from the inlet to the outlet. A pumping arrangement is rotated by the armature and pumps the fluid from the inlet to the outlet. A flow impedance member extends axially in the fluid passage which impedes circumferential flow of the fluid within the fluid passage, thereby generating a pressure gradient circumferentially within the fluid passage which applies a lateral force to the armature.

    Abstract: An arrangement for supplying high pressure fuel to a plurality of fuel injectors includes a housing defining a fuel chamber. The chamber is provided with a flow inlet from a high pressure fuel source and forms a first portion of flow path of the fuel, the chamber being fluidly connected to a conduit providing a second portion of flow path. The conduit has a plurality of outlets adapted to provide flow of high pressure fuel from the chamber via the conduit to a corresponding plurality of injectors via respective first outlet flow conduits. The second portion of flow path is substantially narrower than the first flow path, and includes a pressure sensor located in or adjacent to the conduit.

    Abstract: An electrical connector assembly of a fuel injector includes a body with external walls defining an internal volume and an internal wall dividing the connector in a first part adapted to be fixed in a complementary engagement with the body of the injector and, in a second part adapted to receive another electrical connector. The electrical connector assembly also includes at least one electrical terminal extending through the internal wall from an inner extremity protruding in the inner volume of the first part of the body, to an outer extremity protruding in the outer volume of the second part of the body. The outer extremity is shaped to receive in a complementary engagement an electrical terminal of said another electrical connector. The connector assembly is adapted to be in fluid communication with the back leak return conduit of the injector.
