摘要: A method is provided for controlling operation of a fueling system including a fuel pump driven by an engine geartrain and a fuel accumulator supplied fuel by the fuel pump, comprising: determining whether an operating parameter of the engine is less than a threshold value; responding to the operating parameter being less than the threshold value by causing an inlet valve of the fuel pump to operate in a 100 percent fill mode, whereby a pumping chamber in the fuel pump is approximately fully filled for at least one pumping cycle; determining whether a fuel pressure in the fuel accumulator is greater than a desired value while the inlet valve is in the 100 percent fill mode; and responding to the fuel pressure being greater than the desired value by activating an outlet valve of the fuel accumulator to drain fuel in the fuel accumulator to a fuel tank.

摘要: A fuel filter assembly incorporates a BLDC motor and control circuit configured to operate at a first rotational speed upon startup and switch to a second rotational speed when measured variables indicate that the filter assembly is filled with fuel. The first rotational speed is initiated as a default when power is applied to the control circuit. If the filter assembly has been serviced, it must be primed before resuming normal operation. The first rotational speed is significantly higher than the second rotational speed to reduce the amount of time necessary to prime the filter assembly. The control circuit is arranged to monitor a variable which corresponds to the torque necessary to drive the pump. When the pump is filled with air prior to priming, lower torque is required to drive the pump, which corresponds to lower current draw and power consumption at the BLDC motor.

摘要: A fuel pumping apparatus for supplying fuel to a compression ignition engine includes a high pressure pump to which fuel is supplied from the outlet of a low pressure pump of the vane type. The vanes of the pump are mounted in slots in the pump rotor and are spring biased outwardly. A cavity defined by the inner ends of the slots is connected by a spring loaded valve to the outlet when the output pressure is above a predetermined value and to a space in the housing of the apparatus through a valve when the output pressure is below said value. The space contains fuel which accumulates during the operation of the apparatus.

摘要: A motor driven rotary fuel pump particularly adapted to meter fuel flow from a fuel supply line to a two-barrel carburetor of an internal combustion engine. The pump includes a rotor eccentrically mounted in a rotor chamber and having a plurality of pistons mounted in radially extending piston chambers spaced about the circumference of the rotor. An arcuate inlet slot in the housing adjacent the rotor supplies fuel to the piston chambers of the rotor and the fuel from the piston chambers is dispersed into arcuate outlet slots in the housing for discharge into a two-barrel carburetor. The pistons ride in engagement with a peripheral wall surface defining the rotor chamber and the piston chambers register successively with each of the arcuate slots with a dwell portion for the pistons provided by the wall surface between each of the arcuate slots. A drive connection between a drive motor and the rotor continuously urges the rotor into a sealing relation with a face of the rotor chamber.

摘要: A fuel turbine and a throttle body in a fuel system for an internal combustion engine. The fuel turbine includes a fuel turbine housing. The at least one fuel turbine output port is oriented substantially parallel to the fuel turbine housing axis and coupled to the throttle body. A primary fan capable of circumferential rotation and a secondary fan adapted for opposite circumferential rotation are oriented substantially parallel to the fuel turbine housing axis such that atomized fuel enters the fuel turbine input port to be forced by the primary fan and secondary fan into a higher pressure condition before exiting the fuel turbine housing by the at least one fuel turbine output port.

摘要: The problem arises of how to control a plurality of hydraulic pumps to achieve desired performance criteria, such as reduced wear and/or power consumption. The hydraulic pumps are operated in a hydraulic system for delivering hydraulic fluid to a hydraulic motor in a cryogenic pumping apparatus in an engine system fuelled with a gaseous fuel. A controller is operatively connected with the plurality of hydraulic pumps and is programmed to periodically determine a priority for each hydraulic pump as a function of predetermined criteria such as respective cumulative pumping cycles. Higher priority hydraulic pumps are operated before lower priority hydraulic pumps, that is in descending order of priority, to supply hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic motor. Hydraulic pumps are selected to operate according to the desired performance criteria.
