Abstract:
A power conservation method and system are provided for conserving power in client terminals by using a partitioned proxy server. The client terminal, having low-power and high-power communication interfaces, may power down its high-power communication interface to conserve power. Prior to shutting off its high-power communication interface, the client terminal may assign a partitioned proxy server to act as its proxy. The partitioned proxy server may include remote and local paging proxies which communicate with each other over an IP network. The remote paging proxy receives paging requests from an access point or the communication network and forwards it to the local paging proxy. The local paging proxy then forwards the paging message to the client terminal via a low-power communication interface. Upon receipt of the paging message via its low-power communication interface, the client terminal may power up its high-power communication interface and directly respond to the paging message.
Abstract:
Devices, systems and methods for optimizing a number of retransmission attempts in a multimedia environment and managing delays in a host MAC layer. In its various aspects, the presently claimed invention includes several methodologies and systems that are configured for determining an optimal retry limit in response to one or both of a packet error rate bound and a latency bound. To the extent that the retry limit is determined with respect to one of the aforementioned boundaries, the presently claimed invention may include determining a confidence level that the non-selected bound will also be met by the selected retry limit. The presently claimed invention details devices, systems and methods optimizing the number of retransmission attempts to ensure delivery of the selected data packets while guarding against undue delays and application disruptions.
Abstract:
A method for reserving bandwidth in a wireless system is provided. The method includes reserving one or more communications slots between two or more wireless devices communicating in a wireless network and providing preferential access to at least one wireless device across the network according to a first subset of the communications slots. The method also includes providing preferential access to at least one other device across the network during a second subset of the communications slots.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for communicating via a radio channel to reduce radio frequency (RF) interference between transceiver systems within an electronic device.
Abstract:
A wireless keyboard may be provided with a guard protocol which prevents unintended typematics. An alive signal may be periodically generated to advise a host processor-based system that the keyboard communication link is still effective. If the host processor-based system receives a key make signal but does not receive a break signal or an alive signal, the processor-based system may deduce that the link has gone inactive, and may generate its own break signal. This avoids unnecessary power consumption and unnecessary typematics.
Abstract:
The media dependent module provides an interface between an upper-level conferencing driver (e.g., a data-link manager) of the conferencing system and a lower-level communications driver of the conferencing system to isolate the conferencing driver from the communications driver, where the media dependent module is dependent upon hardware of the communications driver. The media dependent module is adapted to perform a plurality of functions called by the conferencing driver. The media dependent module has a connection state machine. In a preferred embodiment, the communications driver is a communications stack that conforms to one of the NetBIOS, IPX, POTS Modem, and TAPI transport standards. The conferencing system may have multiple media dependent modules, each of which provides an interface between the data-link manager and a communications stack that conforms to a different transport standard.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose computer-program products for discovery of source or sink devices and their capabilities, prior to establishing a link such as a tunneled direct link setup (TDLS) link. The established link may be used for different applications such as Wi-Fi Display session with the desired source or sink device. The proposed computer-program product may also be applied to devices that utilize peer to peer communication.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a machine-readable medium are provided for wireless communication in which at least two modems are selected from a set of modems for the wireless communication based on quality of service requirements for and an energy consumption of the wireless communication. In addition, the selected at least two modems are utilized concurrently for the wireless communication.
Abstract:
A tile concept allows independent encoding and decoding of regions of the video frames combined with changes in the way that the coded tiles are packetized and queued for transport. After the coded tile network abstraction layer (NAL) units are packetized into MPEG-TS frames, the more important tile data is put in the network abstraction layer at the head of the queue while the less important data is inserted later in the queue. Audio can also be accorded high priority. For a given link bandwidth/latency environment, the important data is transmitted first and the less important data can be discarded at the transmitter with less impact on the user perceived quality.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for avoiding conflict in a wireless mobile display digital interface (WMDDI) environment including both host and client devices. In one aspect, the presently claimed invention includes a system and/or method that is configured for broadcasting a first multicast MAC address by a first host to at least one first client in a predetermined geographic area and broadcasting the first multicast MAC address by a second host to at least one second client in the predetermined geographic area. The system and/or method can be further configured for determining a priority between the first host and the second host when the second host receives multicast packets transmitted by the first host and changing to a second multicast MAC address by a least priority host of the first host and the second host.
