Abstract:
This invention comprises a method for generating functional neural networks using neural progenitor cells on microelectrode arrays (MEAs). The method involves dissociating neural progenitor cells from an embryo, propagating the neural progenitor cells, passaging the neural progenitor cells and seeding the neural progenitor cells on MEAs to produce a functional neural network. The neural progenitor cells may be continuously passaged to propagate an endless supply of neural progenitor cells. The resultant passaged progenitor cell derived neural network MEA may be used to detect and/or quantify various biological or chemical toxins.

A haptic feedback screen device include a case, a screen assembled in the case and having a baffling section extending perpendicular from a surface thereof, a piezoelectric vibrator located in the case with two ends thereof fixed to the case being capable of vibrating parallel to the screen. The piezoelectric vibrator defines a projecting element opposed to the baffling section of the screen for being capable of abutting against the baffling section.
Abstract:
Described are methods for modifying a substrate by exposing the substrate to a densified fluid. The substrate may be a polymer or a metal alloy, and the densified fluid may be carbon dioxide. Uses of such substrate modification include impregnation of the substrate with one or more drugs, impregnation of microcellular particles, and formation of microcellular compositions.
Abstract:
A method, system and device for establishing connection based on a LTE/SAE system. First, e-NodeB sends an S1 SETUP REQUEST message to the MME, to initialize the establishment of the S1 connection; then, MME responds an S1 SETUP RESPONSE message to the e-NodeB, in response to the S1 SETUP REQUEST message, carrying the MME identification in the S1 SETUP RESPONSE message.
Abstract:
A transformer with power factor compensation and a DC/AC inverter constructed thereby are presented. The power factor compensation transformer includes a primary winding, a secondary winding, and a power factor compensation capacitor bank, while the secondary winding having a coupling winding and a power factor compensation winding. The primary winding connects to a power grid in parallel, the coupling winding connects to an AC output port of a passive trigger type DC/AC inverter, and the power factor compensation winding serially connects with the power factor compensation capacitor bank. Besides, a triggered switch serially connecting with the power factor compensation winding and power factor compensation capacitor bank is provided when an inductor with air gap links the passive trigger type DC/AC inverter and the coupling winding. Consequently, a function of power factor correction is achieved.
Abstract:
A multi-backlight collimated system at least comprises a plurality of light sources, a plurality of reflection elements, and at least a collimation element. The light sources are for providing light. Each reflection element has a reflective surface corresponding to one of the light sources and is disposed to reflect light from the corresponding light source. The reflective surface reflects light being emitted in a predetermined direction by the corresponding light source to form a projection area on a screen. The adjacent projection areas on the screen are joined at adjacent side edges. The collimation element is disposed on the screen for altering a path of light penetrating the screen and emitting light in a specific direction The multi-backlight collimated system is easily fabricated into large sizes and is beneficial for products having large display areas.
Abstract:
A touch input device includes a substrate, plural sensible conductive layers and plural first switch units. The substrate is provided with an upper surface, the sensible conductive layers are all configured on the upper surface and are arranged in columns and rows. The first switch units are configured on the substrate and are electrically connected with the sensible conductive layers. By the first switch units, same columns of the sensible conductive layers can conduct electrically with one another and same rows of the sensible conductive layers can conduct electrically with one another.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a current-balance circuit and a backlight module having the same. The current balance circuit includes a current balance unit, a control unit, and a detection unit. The current balance unit is connected to a plurality of light units to regulate the current of the plurality of light units, independent from the effects of input voltage. The detection unit is connected to the plurality of light units and the current balance unit to detect the minimum operating voltage for the plurality of light units. The control unit, connected to the current balance unit, controls the operation of the plurality of light units.
Abstract:
Because the back-and-forth movement by hand is slower and more strenuous than the leftward-and-rightward swinging, a handheld image-tracking device, which can be applied to an optical mouse or a handheld scanner, uses a rectangle-shaped sensing array to save area of the sensing array and lower down the production cost for the device by reasonably reducing the back-and-forth sensing area for the sensing array; and, so, an amount and time spent for a data comparison in the device is lessened.
Abstract:
A processing unit, a portable electrical device and an auto-run method thereof are described. The processing unit of the portable electrical device has a kernel program memory area where a virtual memory device is established. Then, a virtual auto-run file is stored in the virtual memory device. When the portable electrical device is electrically connected to an electronic apparatus, the electronic apparatus automatically executes at least one predetermined operation on the portable electrical device according to the virtual auto-run file.
