Abstract:
Systems and methods to select peered border elements for a communication session based on Quality-of-Service (QoS) are disclosed. An example method includes selecting a peered border element to handle a communication session based on a list of peered border elements (PBEs) and a composite QoS parameter of the communication session, the list of PBEs being prioritized based on respective statuses of PBEs in the list, the first composite QoS parameter being based on weighted QoS parameters of the communication session including a grade of service (GoS) parameter of the communication session and a preferred mode of communication for a VoIP device of a called party in the communication session, the GoS parameter including an attempted performance range and an expected performance range of the communication session; and controlling a second server to generate a QoS authorization token to reserve network resources associated with the selected PBE.
Abstract:
A content selection server including a processor configured to receive personal preference information from a plurality of personal media devices, select content based on the personal preference information, and provide playback of the content.
Abstract:
An example method involves, when telephone number mapping data packets are query packets, sending the query packets to a virtual Internet protocol address of a telephone number mapping domain name system server; when the telephone number mapping data packets are provisioning packets, sending the provisioning packets to a virtual Internet protocol address of a telephone number mapping lightweight directory access protocol server; and waiting and sending traffic to one lightweight directory access protocol server at a time.
Abstract:
The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can enhance and/or simplify tactile-based I/O transactions in connection with a user-interface (UI) of limited form factor. In particular, the architecture can monitor a position of a selector object such as an operator's finger relative to a UI display as the selector object hovers or moves above the UI display. Based upon this position, an analogous coordinate in the UI display can be determined, and a portion of the UI display substantially centered at the coordinate can be modified. As one example, the UI display can be modified to increase the magnification scale (e.g., a virtual magnifying glass) of the portion of the display indicated by the selector object.
Abstract:
Methods and an apparatus for selecting and pushing customized electronic media content are disclosed. An example method includes determining a first capability associated with a first device; determining a second capability associated with a second device; segmenting a piece of media into a first plurality of portions according to the first capability; when the second capability is different from the first capability, segmenting the piece of electronic media into a second plurality of portions according to the second capability, the second plurality of portions to be sized differently than the first plurality of portions; pushing a first one of the first plurality of portions to the first media device prior to the user requesting the first piece of electronic media; and pushing a first one of the second plurality of portion to the second media device prior to the user requesting the first piece of electronic media.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, providing a request associated with a call session to a server, wherein the request includes capability information associated with user equipment. A codec is identified according to the capability information to obtain an identified codec, which facilitates media service to the user equipment. The media service is accessed from a media resource function, which in turn, is accessed by the server responsive to the identified codec. An operable resource identifier is identified responsive to a search of a codec table, wherein the server accesses the operable resource identifier associated with the media resource function from a domain name server responsive to the resource identifier not being available at the codec table. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting, by a processing system including a processor, a transmission of a signal that identifies an advertisement, transmitting, by the processing system, a first indication of having detected the signal, and transmitting, by the processing system, a second indication of a status of the processing system when the signal is detected. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
An architecture is described that can utilize photo-sensors embedded in a substantially transparent layer of a UI display for tracking objects that approach or hover over the UI display. The photo-sensors can be configured to detect light of certain wavelengths (e.g., visible light, infrared light) that are propagated toward the UI display, while ignoring light emanating from the UI display when displaying content. Accordingly, by examining various characteristics of the incoming light such as intensity, the architecture can identify a location of a shadow incident upon the display caused by an approaching or hovering selector object blocking portions of incoming light. Additionally or alternatively, the architecture can identify a location of higher intensity for light emanating from the selector object.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, responsive to determining that a second device is associated with a first carrier network, obtaining a first record associated with a called number of the second device from a first carrier network telephone number mapping equipment server of the first carrier network, and transmitting a first internet protocol address for the second device from the first record to a terminating call session control function server of the first carrier network to initiate the internet protocol call session. Responsive to a second determination that the second device is associated with a second carrier network, obtaining a second record associated with the called number according to a pointer to a second carrier network telephone number mapping equipment server of the second carrier network, and transmitting a second internet protocol address for the second device derived from the second record to a session border controller of the first carrier network to initiate the internet protocol call session. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A method that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining at a first directory server of a first regional call processing system whether a new name authority pointer associated with a telephone number is within a first geographic region of the first regional call processing system, transmitting the new name authority pointer to a first name server of the first regional call processing system for provisioning the name authority pointer to the first name server responsive to determining that the telephone number is located within the first geographic region, and transmitting the new name authority pointer to a second directory server for provisioning the new name authority pointer to a second name server of a second regional call processing system responsive to determining that the telephone number is not located within the first geographic region. Other embodiments are disclosed.
