    摘要: A runtime activation system uses a set of policies designed to provide a balance between backwards compatibility and ease of migrating existing (non side-by-side aware) applications to new runtime versions. The system chooses the runtime version to activate when an application runs or when a runtime application programming interface is invoked based on the set of policies. The system implements these policies by consulting compatibility data associated with the application indicating the intent of the author and level of side-by-side support provided by the application and/or global configuration data. Based on the compatibility data, the system chooses policies that are right in the most common cases, and easy to modify in less common cases. Thus, the runtime activation system allows applications to be flexibly configured to handle new runtime versions in a manner determined by the application author, a system administrator, or others.

    摘要: Conventional spot beam satellites transmit downlink beams that each correspond to a separate and unique uplink signal. Power available for each downlink beam is typically set by an associated amplifier on the satellite, and total transmit power cannot be dynamically distributed across different spot beams. An embodiment of the present invention overcomes this distribution limitation by using multiple replicas of a single signal as input to a multi-port amplifier that allows transmit power to be dynamically distributed across the different spot beams. The replicas may be de-correlated through techniques such as selectively delaying some of the replicas. This power distribution effectively allows dynamic allocation of capacity between areas serviced by different beams. Offered load in different beams can be predicted and used to set the attenuation values appropriately and the attenuation values may also be controlled remotely.

    摘要: In some embodiments, a player may be provided with information identifying a characteristic of a true outcome of a set of possible outcomes of an event, the set consisting of a first and second subset, the second subset comprising a second possible outcome. Next, the player may submit a first wager on a first of the possible outcomes. Next, the system may reveal to the player that a the first subset may not comprise (or may be at least substantially unlikely to comprise) the true outcome. The second subset may comprise (or may be at least substantially likely to comprise) the true outcome. The player may be provided with an opportunity to change from the first wager to a second wager on the second possible outcome, e.g., only if the second subset of possible outcomes comprises the first possible outcome.
