摘要: The present invention is directed to a method for predicting the risk of a female subject to develop postpartum HELLP syndrome, postpartum preeclampsia, or postpartum eclampsia. The method is based on the determination of the levels of i) sFlt-1 and PlGF, or ii) Endoglin and PlGF in a first sample obtained from said subject before delivery of baby, and a second sample of from said subject obtained after delivery of baby. Moreover, encompassed by the invention are devices and kits for carrying out the method of the present invention.

摘要: The present invention relates to methods for treating brain metastasis by inhibiting gap junction functionality. It is based, at least in part, on the discovery that cancer cells expressing Protocadherin 7 and Connexin 43 form gap junctions with astrocytes that promote the growth of brain metastases, and that inhibition of Protocadherin 7 and/or Connexin 43 expression in cancer cells reduce progression of brain metastases. It is further based on the discovery that treatment with gap junction inhibitors tonabersat and meclofenamate inhibited progression of brain metastatic lesions and enhanced the anti-cancer activity of the conventional chemotherapeutic agent, carboplatin.

The present disclosure includes a method for preparing a photoaged cell, including the step of: irradiating a cell with light having an emission peak within a wavelength range of 300 to 315 nm, and a method for detecting or quantifying a photoaged cell, including the step of: detecting or quantifying expression of at least one gene selected from the group consisting of GPR17, CD34, GABRR1, OR2AG2, CMKLR1, CDH19, CD93, AVPR2, CCR7, and OXGR1 in a cell.
