Abstract:
A method for making a microstructure includes: providing a film (100) on a release liner (110); feeding the film through a cutting plotter (10); cutting the film with a knife blade (34) of the cutting plotter to form a microstructure pattern; peeling the microstructure pattern from the release liner; and transferring the microstructure pattern to a substrate (170). The cutting plotter for making microstructures includes a knife head with a knife blade disposed adjacent a feed mechanism (20), a motor (42) and control system coupled to the knife head for selectively moving the knife head in relation to the film, and the control system and the knife head having an addressable positioning resolution less than approximately 10 μm.
Abstract:
A coaxial cable connector generally includes a connector body, a nut rotatably coupled to the connector body, a post disposed in the connector body and a biasing element acting between the post and the nut. The nut has an internal thread for engagement with an external thread of a mating connector. The internal thread of the nut and the external thread of the mating connector can be mismatched, wherein an interference fit is created therebetween upon connection of the nut to the mating connector. Also, the post can have a forward flanged base portion disposed within the axial length of the internally threaded surface of the nut, which, together with the biasing element, provides a constant force between the post and the nut.
Abstract:
A coaxial cable connector includes a connector body having a rearward cable receiving end, a locking sleeve movably coupled within the rearward cable receiving end of the connector body for locking the cable in the connector and a gripping ferrule disposed between the connector body and the locking sleeve. The gripping ferrule includes axially opposite gripping ends which move in a radially inward direction upon compression between the locking sleeve and the connector body to grip the outer surface of the cable.
Abstract:
An internal combustion barrel engine includes an engine housing with a first and second end. An elongated power shaft is longitudinally disposed in the engine housing and defines a longitudinal axis. A combustion cylinder and a guide cylinder are spaced apart and disposed on a common cylinder axis that is generally parallel to the central axis. The cylinders each have an inner end and an outer end, with the inner ends being closer to each other. The outer end of the combustion cylinder is closed. An intake system is operable to introduce a mixture of air and/or fuel into the combustion cylinder. A track is supported between the inner ends of the cylinders and has an undulating cam surface. The track is moveable such that the portion of the cam surface most directly between the cylinders undulates toward and away from the inner end of the combustion cylinder. A double-ended piston includes a combustion end disposed in the combustion cylinder so as to define a combustion chamber between the combustion end and the closed end of the combustion cylinder. A guide end is disposed in the guide cylinder. A midportion extends between the combustion end and the guide end and is in mechanical communication with the guide surface of the track. A variable compression ratio device is operable to move the track axially towards and away from the inner end of the combustion cylinder so as to adjust the compression ratio. Combustion occurs only in the combustion cylinder and does not occur in the guide cylinder.
Abstract:
A coaxial cable connector includes a collar and an axially movable locking sleeve coupled to the collar. The collar has a sleeve insertion end and at least one flexible finger for gripping a cable provided on the sleeve insertion end. The locking sleeve includes an internal ramped surface for deflecting the flexible finger of the collar radially inward to grip the cable as the locking sleeve is moved axially with respect to the collar.
Abstract:
A coaxial cable connector includes an annular post defining an axial bore therein, a cylindrical connector body coupled to the post, a nut rotatably coupled to the post and a sleeve movably connected to the connector body. The sleeve includes at least one radially outwardly extending ridge formed on an outer surface thereof, which frictionally engages an inner surface of the connector body. As a result, the inner surface of the connector body does not require a recess or other engagement structure formed thereon.
Abstract:
A system and method for permitting viewership behavior on a cable television system, or satellite system, to be analyzed while guaranteeing the anonymity of the individual viewers. Using this system and method, the content of the message initiated by a consumer device, that is configured to receive television programming content, cannot be known by the cable operator even though the cable operator can identify the source of the message; alternatively, the entity that analyzes viewership behavior cannot know the source of the message but can know the content of the message.
