    摘要: A turn signal assembly for use in a first vehicle having a vehicle proximity sensor system for detecting the proximity of a second vehicle. The turn signal assembly includes a stalk or handle movable between a first position, an intermediate position, and a second position. The assembly further includes a turn signal actuation device connected to the handle. The device is operable to actuate a light in response to the handle moving to one of the first and second positions from the intermediate position. A tactile feedback mechanism is mounted on the handle. The tactile feedback mechanism is adapted to provide a tactile response upon detection of a signal from the vehicle proximity sensor system of the presence of a second vehicle.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for monitoring current flow through a resistive heating element and for detecting breakage of the heating element. In one preferred embodiment the heating element is disposed on a vehicle window. A current is passed through the heating element continuously, even when the vehicle ignition is turned off. A differential amplifier is used to generate a signal representative of the current flow through the heating element which is indicative of whether the heating element is functioning properly or has been broken. The signal is converted from an analog to a digital signal by an analog to digital convertor and then subsequently output to a controller or computer. From this signal the computer determines if the heating element has been broken. The apparatus and method can be used for a variety of functions, but has particular utility in detecting if a window supporting the heating element has been broken such as during an attempted theft.

    摘要: A wiper motor control using a load sense resistor to monitor conditions confronting the wiper operation. The control can detect if the wiper is frozen to the window, moving too slowly, moving too quickly, etc. The power to the motor is then adjusted to achieve a desired speed, or, otherwise adjusted, based upon the detected conditions. Further, the direction of the motor may be reversed based upon the detected conditions. In a preferred embodiment, the load sense resistor is provided by a defroster filament strip. Alternatively, a temperature sensor may be used to detect the conditions confronting the wiper operation.

    摘要: A junction box incorporating an integrally formed shunt busbar. The shunt busbar incorporates a first pair of terminals to act as leads to couple the shunt busbar in a current loop of a circuit, and a second pair of terminals to couple a voltage sensing device across a portion of the shunt busbar. The voltage sensing device is preferably a high input impedance voltage comparator. The input impedance of the voltage comparator is great enough to negate the affect of the internal resistance of the mating terminals of the busbar. Furthermore, the second pair of terminals is located on the shunt busbar such that the terminal resistances thereof are outside of the current loop. The electrical busbar is preferably mounted in a suitable insulating housing. When the shunt busbar of the present invention is connected to the high input impedance voltage comparator, a circuit path that allows for easily and accurately measuring the voltage drop across the busbar is made possible. This is accomplished while maintaining adequate current flow to the load for testing purposes.
