Abstract: Example communications methods and systems are described. One example communications system includes a base station supporting connectivity to a core network of the first communications standard and a core network of the second communications standard. One example method includes that a terminal receives information broadcast by the base station. The information includes a first and a second area identities. When the terminal enters a cell served by the base station from a cell of the second communications standard and when the second area identity does not belong to a current area list of the terminal, the terminal initiates an area update to the core network of the second communications standard. The base station broadcasts the area identities of the two communications standards.

Abstract: This application discloses a communication system including a master base station and a secondary base station, both connecting with a terminal. In the communication system, the master base station sends a first message to the secondary base station for allocating transmission resources for one or more flows to be transmitted between the secondary base station and a terminal, wherein the first message carries one or both of: identification information of each flow to be transmitted, and information of a data radio bearer (DRB) associated with each flow to be transmitted, then the secondary base station may determine a mapping relationship between a DRB and an admitted flow according to the first message. Moreover, the master base station sends DRB configuration information to the terminal. Therefore, requirements of 5G communication systems for QoS management of information transmission in a dual connectivity scenario can be met.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a wireless local area network WLAN measurement and reporting method, and a related device. The method includes: acquiring, by a user terminal, WLAN group information, where the WLAN group information indicates at least one WLAN group; determining, by the user terminal, whether at least one WLAN in the WLAN group satisfies WLAN measurement configuration information; and reporting, by the user terminal, a measurement result of the at least one WLAN in the WLAN group to a base station when the at least one WLAN in the WLAN group satisfies the WLAN measurement configuration information. Therefore, a signaling resource can be saved, thereby reducing signaling load caused by simultaneous reporting of a large quantity of WLAN measurement results.

Abstract: This application provides a network access method, an access device, and a terminal device. The access device is connected to at least two different types of core networks. When the terminal device is to connect to a core network, the terminal device sends, to the access device, a first message used to indicate a type of the terminal device. The access device determines the type of the terminal device based on the first message, and determines, based on the type of the terminal device, a target core network to be connected by the terminal device, so that the access device accurately connects the terminal device to the target core network.
