An example method begins with the receiving (220) of positioning QoS information for a target wireless device, such as a user equipment, UE. In some cases, for example, the positioning QoS information is received from a positioning node, using the LPPa protocol. The positioning QoS information may include, for example, a desired horizontal accuracy, a desired vertical accuracy, and a target response time. The received positioning QoS information is used (230) to configure uplink transmissions to be transmitted by the target wireless device, or to configure a receiver for reception of one or more uplink transmissions from the target wireless device, or both.

    摘要: A base station determines a muting configuration for reference signal (RS) transmission as a pattern defined by the combination of a muting sequence and a reference point. Muting occasions for a given wireless communication network cell may be differentiated from another cell by use of a different muting sequence, a different reference point, or both. Wireless communication apparatuses such as User Equipments (UEs) determine when the reference signals are muted in the cell based on the periodic muting sequence and the reference point received in assistance data transmitted by the base station. The network may alternatively utilize a common muting sequence with different reference points, a common reference point with different muting sequences, or different sequences and different reference points across multiple cells.

    摘要: A network node (44) assists a user equipment (36) to perform positioning measurements on positioning signals (46) transmitted by one or more cells during respective positioning occasions of those cells. The node (44) selectively delays transmission of assistance data to the user equipment (36) as needed, based on defined uncertainty in one or more timing parameters, for the network node (44) to identify with certainty between which two consecutive positioning occasions of a reference cell the user equipment (36) will receive that assistance data. The node (44) correspondingly generates the assistance data to be transmitted to indicate positioning occasion timing for at least one cell relative to the latter of those two consecutive positioning occasions of the reference cell. Such calculation and transmission enables the user equipment (36) to be certain that the next reference cell positioning occasion occurring after its reception of the assistance data is the reference cell positioning occasion on which the assistance data is based.

    摘要: Positioning and location services are provided in a wireless communication network using civic address information. The civic address information may comprise a data structure including textual Information Elements such as apartment or office number, street number, street name, city, state, postal code, and the like. A positioning method is defined comprising performing a civic address lookup to obtain a location in civic address format for an identified node, based upon information about the identified node's serving (or associated) node and neighbor nodes. Signaling is defined to request the civic address positioning method, to exchange capabilities, to communicate location information using a civic address format, report a positioning failure and optionally the failure cause, and the like. Location information may be translated between a civic address format and a 3GPP or 3GPP2 positioning format. The positioning method and associated signaling are particularly advantageous in indoor environments, where conventional positioning methods fare poorly or fail altogether.

The user equipment (36) receives assistance data that indicates positioning occasion periodicities of a first cell and a reference cell, and that indicates a positioning occasion timing offset between those cells. The user equipment (36) performs signal detection at candidate timing offsets surrounding the indicated positioning occasion timing offset, to determine which candidate timing offset has the greatest probability of being the actual positioning occasion timing offset between the first cell and the reference cell. The user equipment (36) may then time assisted positioning measurements for the first cell based on the candidate timing offset determined as most likely being the actual timing offset, rather than necessarily timing those measurements based on the offset indicated in the assistance data.

    摘要: A method in a signalling device for assisting in positioning of user equipment based on time measurements is provided. The signalling device is associated with an s-cell, which is recognized by the first network node as having limited functionality and is, therefore, not considerable for the user equipment as a candidate cell for serving the user equipment (for data transmission. The signalling device associated s-cell is part of a positioning neighbor list of neighbor cells. The neighbor cells in the list are configured to have time measurements performed thereon by the user equipment for enabling positioning. The signalling device is configured to transmit predefined reference signals in predefined subframes and according to a predefined pattern relating to preselected subcarriers and preselected time slots within a subframe. The signalling device obtains synchronization information and transmits reference signals according to the configuration and synchronized according to the obtained synchronization information. This enables the user equipment to receive and perform time measurements on the transmitted reference signals for positioning when the signalling device associated s-cell is in the positioning neighbor list.
