摘要： A communication connector having a plurality of contact pairs for conductive connection to respective communication signal wire pairs is provided with a capacitor label that capacitively couples a first contact of one contact pair to a second contact of a second contact pair to reduce near end cross talk between adjacent contacts. A common conductive lamina disposed closely adjacent to and spaced from more than one of the contacts further improves near end cross talk performance of the communication connector.

摘要： A modular plug connector that achieves category five cross talk performance is constructed with an array of substantially planar conductor positioning channels that position individual conductors for termination by a plurality of flat insulation displacement contacts. A plurality of conductor termination slots are formed parallel to and communicating with every other one of the conductor positioning channels such that insertion of insulation displacement contacts during termination of the contacts to the conductors forces every other conductor into a respective slot offsetting or staggering adjacent conductors. The modular plug is provided with a latch arm that includes a free end that extends downwardly toward a top wall of the connector to terminate in close proximity to the surface of the connector or extends into a depression in the surface of the connector to prevent snagging or tangling of the latch arm with other connectors or surfaces.

摘要： A stretched cable tie has a head connected to a strap having teeth on both sides of the strap. A moveable pawl is positioned on a ledge inside the head and urges the strap into engagement with a fixed tooth within the head so that teeth on both sides of the strap are engaged by the pawl and fixed tooth respectively. A sharp corner is provided more than a multiple of the spacing between the strap teeth below the fixed tooth so as to allow the corner to penetrate the strap and engage the adjacent tooth to aid in providing a withdrawal force. A portion of the wall of the head behind the fixed tooth is removed to facilitate cooling and eliminate shrinkage in the area of the fixed tooth.

摘要： Termination tooling for use with a bench press for terminating a flat cable in an elongate connector. The tooling includes a termination die and positioning structure for holding a connector in place for termination by the die. Stop structure is disposed spaced from the termination die for engaging one end of the cable with the axial direction of the cable being generally normal to the longitudinal direction of the connector so as to locate the cable end with respect to the connector. Finally, the tooling includes slide structure for supporting the cable. The slide structure is movable transversely of the axial direction of the cable between a loading position, wherein the cable engages the stop structure, and a termination position, in which the cable is positioned for termination in the connector by the die, whereby the cable is positioned with respect to the connector without the stop structure engaging the cable during termination.

摘要： Termination tooling adapted for use with a prime mover, such as a bench press, for terminating a flat cable in a connector of the type having an insulative base and cover with the base carrying a plurality of insulation displacement terminal elements extending toward the cover. The tooling includes a termination die and holding means for positioning the connector with respect to the termination die. The prime mover is connected to cause the die and the holding means to undergo reciprocal movement relative to one another. The tooling also includes stop means disposed adjacent one side of a connector positioned in the holding means for engaging the leading end of a flat cable. Cable movement means is provided for moving the leading end of the cable a predetermined distance away from the stop toward the connector prior to termination of the connector.
