Abstract: According to one embodiment, a lithium ion secondary battery is provided. The lithium ion secondary battery includes a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active material-containing layer, a positive electrode, and an electrolyte containing Li ions and Na ions. The negative electrode active material-containing layer contains a Na-containing titanium composite oxide. Abstract: A production method of a battery active material of the present embodiment includes a step of obtaining a coprecipitated product containing Ti and Nb by mixing a solution with a pH of 5 or lower, in which a Ti compound is dissolved, and a solution with a pH of 5 or lower, in which a Nb compound is dissolved, such that molar ratio of Ti and Nb (Nb/Ti) is adjusted within a range of 1≦Nb/Ti≦28, and then further mixing with an alkali solution with a pH of 8 or higher; and a step of burning the coprecipitated product under condition of 635° C. or higher and 1200° C. or lower.

Abstract: A non-aqueous electrolyte battery is provided with a bipolar electrode unit and an insulating layer including non-aqueous electrolyte. The insulating layer covers positive and negative electrode active material layers on both side surfaces of a current collector of a bipolar electrode of the unit. The unit is folded at every predetermined length to have flat portions arranged to face each other and bent portions arranged between the flat portions to connect the flat portions. A thickness of one part of the insulating layer of the electrode, the one part being positioned on an outer side surface of each bent portion, is set to be larger than a thickness of the other part of the insulating layer, the other part being positioned on each flat portion.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a nonaqueous electrolyte battery is provided. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode including a negative electrode active material layer, a separator layer, an intermediate region, and a gel nonaqueous electrolyte. The separator layer and the intermediate region hold at least a part of the gel nonaqueous electrolyte. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery satisfies a volume ratio VA/VB of 5 or more. VA is a volume of the intermediate region. VB is an average volume of gaps among the particles of the niobium-and-titanium-containing composite oxide in the negative electrode active material layer.
