摘要: Occlusion assemblies facilitating occlusion of flexible tubing are disclosed. Occlusion assemblies may be associated with or form part of a medical infusion device and may facilitate fluid handling by such devices. Occlusion assemblies may position and immobilize tubing. Occlusion assemblies comprise a tubing occluder constructed and positioned to apply a force to tube(s) to occlude the tubes. Occlusion assemblies may be configured to include a single tube in certain cases, and in other cases to occlude multiple tubes, whether an odd number of tubes or an even number of tubes. Occlusion assemblies may include automatic actuators and in certain cases also include a manual actuator to provide an override function. Occlusion assemblies may include safety features, for example, to prevent a release of occlusion force on the tubing and/or convenience features, for example a retainer mechanism to hold the tube occluder in a non-occluding position.

摘要: An occlusion assembly for compressing at least one tube, e.g. a pair of side-by-side flexible tubes, that comprises an occluding member for each tube placed within the assembly. Each occluding member is pressed into an occluding position by an element that is movable, e.g. in a space between the occluding members, to cause a tube-contacting portion of each occluding member to translate toward its associated tubing to compress it. In an embodiment, the element is a spreader that is positioned between two occluding members and acts to spread the distal ends of the occluding members away from each other as they press against their respective tubes. A main spring may be included that urges the spreader toward the distal ends of the occluding elements into an occluding position. The spreader may be moved against the biasing force of the main spring to move the occluding members into a non-occluding position near the proximal ends of the occluding elements, for example manually through a button and linkage assembly coupled to the spreading element, or by control of a controller activating an actuator that is also coupled to the spreader.

摘要: A blood line connector for a blood circuit of a hemodialysis unit with an ability to make two different types of fluid tight connections, e.g., a screw-type connection with a luer connector at a patient access and a press-in type connection with a dialysate circuit. The blood line connector may include a tube connection end arranged to sealingly engage with a blood circuit tube, and a patient access connection end with a frustoconical member having an internally threaded portion arranged to engage with an externally threaded patient access, and a pair of locking arms extending rearwardly from the frustoconical member. The locking arms may each have a finger depression portion and a barbed portion, and may be arranged to engage with a mating connector on the dialysis unit at the barbed portions to lock the frustoconical member in sealing engagement with the mating connector when making a press-in type connection.

摘要: An infusion pump assembly includes a locking tab and a pump barrel inside a pump barrel housing, the pump barrel accommodates a reservoir assembly. The reservoir assembly includes a reservoir and a plunger rod. The infusion pump assembly also includes a locking disc at a terminus of the pump barrel. The locking disc includes a clearance hole for the plunger rod. The locking disc also includes at least one locking tab notch in close proximity with the locking tab. The locking tab is in moveable engagement with the locking tab notch, and the reservoir moves the locking tab from a locked position to an unlocked position when the plunger rod is inserted through clearance hole. The locking disc rotates upon torque being applied to the reservoir assembly, the locking disc rotating from a non-loaded position to a loaded position with respect to the plunger rod and a drive screw.

摘要: When a patient is fitted with an external gastrostomy connection to the stomach, ingested food can be removed through the gastrostomy connection using a pump-based or siphon-based system to achieve weight loss. The process of removing ingested food can be improved by alternating the infusion of liquid into the stomach with the removal of material from the stomach. Optionally, stomach acid may be captured and returned to the stomach. Optionally, nutritional supplements or medicines may be added to the infused liquid. Optionally, a flush mount connectorized system with a built in valve may be used to simplify the interface with the gastrostomy hardware that remains installed in the patient. Optionally, the system may be configured to disable itself from further use after a triggering event (e.g., the passage of time or a predetermined number of uses) has occurred.
