摘要: A heart lung machine (HLM) includes: a pump actuator; an actuator control unit (ACU) operably connected to the pump actuator; a processing unit configured to receive a set of parameter data from the actuator; a display device configured to present a subset of the set of parameter data; and an input control device operably connected to the pump actuator. The input control device includes a rotatable knob. The ACU may be configured to: determine that the pump actuator has been stopped in response to a pump-stop trigger event; determine that the rotatable knob has been rotated to a first position; and in response to determining that the rotatable knob has been rotated to the first position, starting the pump actuator.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for therapeutic red blood cell exchange and/or therapeutic plasma exchange. A blood separation device includes a centrifugal separator, a spinning membrane separator drive unit, a pump system, and a controller. Blood is conveyed through a fluid flow circuit into either the centrifugal separator or the spinning membrane separator, which separates out the target blood component (red blood cells, in the case of therapeutic red blood cell exchange, or plasma, in the case of therapeutic plasma exchange). The target blood component is retained in the circuit as a waste product, while a replacement fluid is added to the remaining blood component(s), which is then conveyed to a recipient. In addition to allowing for execution of an exchange procedure using either a centrifugal separator or a spinning membrane separator drive unit, the blood separation device also allows for the use of differently sized spinning membrane separators.

Volumetric fluid balance, a required element of many such processes, may be achieved with multiple pumps or other proportioning or balancing devices which are to some extent independent of each other. This need may arise in treatments that involve multiple fluids. Safe and secure mechanisms to ensure fluid balance in such systems are described.

摘要: The present invention provides a method, system, and apparatus that can substantially reduce the recirculation of venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO) associated with the two-site, single-lumen cannulation approach. Actively-controlled flow regulators comprising balloon, occluder and reservoir can be individually or collectively equipped on the drainage and/or infusion cannulas to accomplish the goal of maximizing VV ECMO support efficacy. Three specific embodiments are introduced to illustrate the practical enforcement of the proposed blood flow control in reference to the heart rhythm, aiming at achieving the maximal reduction of oxygenated blood flow recirculating back to the VV ECMO circuit.

摘要: It is disclosed an apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment (1) having a control unit (15) connected to an ultrafiltration device (20) and to a fluid preparation section (30) of fresh dialysis liquid. The control unit (15) is configured to receive measured values of the change of blood volume, the amount of ultrafiltration volume, and conductivity or to the concentration for at least one substance in the blood (BV %mes(t); UFmes(t), WLmes(t); Cbmes(t)); the control unit (15) is also configured to receive prescription values for the same parameters and to control ultrafiltration and adjust conductivity in the fresh dialysis liquid based on the difference between said measured values and said prescription values.
