An apparatus and method demapping a demapping input data stream having a channel bandwidth received in a multi-carrier broadcast system into a demapping output data stream. A stream demapping mechanism demaps second frames from the demapping input data stream, and a frame demapping mechanism demaps the second frames including a preamble portion and a payload portion into the demapping output data stream. The frame demapping mechanism demaps signalling data from the preamble portion, which includes at least one preamble symbol carrying at least one preamble signalling block including signalling data, and demaps data blocks of the demapping output data stream from the payload portion by using signalling information. Payload data are mapped onto the payload portion including plural data symbols carrying payload data of at least two mapping input data streams, the payload portion being segmented into data segments each covering a bandwidth portion of the channel bandwidth.
Abstract:
An OFDM generation apparatus and methods for generating OFDM transmission signals from OFDM symbols, each including a plurality of OFDM subcarriers, for transmission in a multi-carrier data transmission system, is provided. The provided apparatus and method may use a selected mixing frequency for mixing complex time-domain samples of OFDM symbols from a baseband frequency up to a passband frequency to obtain OFDM transmission signals, wherein the mixing frequency is selected such that common phase rotations of the OFDM subcarriers of OFDM symbols with respect to adjacent OFDM symbols of the OFDM transmission signals are avoided or compensated after the mixing. Additional apparatuses and methods for avoidance or compensation of such common phase rotations are also provided.

A power line communication method for realizing data communication between at least one first or sending power line communication partner device and at least one second or receiving power line communication partner device. The method checks transmission conditions of a plurality of possible communication channels, thereby generating transmission condition data descriptive for the communication conditions of the respective possible communication channels. Additionally, communication conditions of the plurality of possible communication channels are selected as actual communication conditions based on the transmission condition data.

Abstract:
In an ad-hoc established device network, a profile based handover of the network control functionality is performed whenever a new device requests association with the network and the central controller does not support the profile of the new device. A database is searched for a controller-capable device that supports both the profiles of the network devices and the profile of the new device. The former central controller passes the control functionality to the controller-capable device, which becomes the new central controller. Thus it is possible to associate the new device with the net work. The invention allows to integrate devices supporting different profiles into a common network.

Abstract:
A transmitting device, a receiving device, and a communication method for transmitting and receiving data modulated on frequency subcarriers of an OFDM communication system. An OFDM burst includes a preamble part and payload data part, whereby the preamble includes a section of pilot symbols mapped onto every n-th frequency subcarrier and signaling data mapped onto the frequency subcarriers between the frequency subcarriers with the pilot symbols. A first channel estimation on the basis of the received pilot symbols is performed, the result of which is used to reconstruct the entire section of the received preamble as a training pattern for an accurate channel estimation, which is used for a channel equalization of the received payload part.
