Methods and apparatus relating to predicting outcome in a sporting environment are described. The methods and apparatus are used to relate trajectory performance of an object to body motions and body orientation associated with a generating the trajectory of the object. When equipment is utilized to generate the trajectory of an object, than the effects of equipment motions and equipment orientation can be also related to trajectory performance. The method and apparatus can be used to predict body motions and body orientations that increase the likelihood of achieving a desired outcome including specifying optimum motions and orientations for a particular individual. The method and apparatus may be used in training, coaching and broadcasting environments.

A system uses a camera, a depth sensor, and a processing module to track a moving object in an athletic playing space over time. The processing module receives image frames from the camera and depth data from the depth sensor. The processing module analyzes the depth data to identify which of the pixels are in a plane of a sufficiently large size to indicate that the identified pixels correspond to a playing surface of the athletic playing space. The processing module then determines that gravity is in a direction normal to the identified plane. By finding the direction of gravity within the images, the algorithm for calculating performance parameters based on the trajectory of a moving object within the athletic playing space can be greatly simplified, thereby decreasing the processing burdens associated with calculating the performance parameters and providing more accurate trajectory estimations with fewer measured trajectory points.

A thermal management system for a vehicle having an electric traction motor for moving the vehicle and a battery pack configured to provide power for driving the motor. The thermal management system includes a motor cooling system operable to cool the motor, and a second thermal load cooling system configured to remove heat from a second thermal load. The second thermal load cooling system is selectively thermally connectable to the motor to remove heat therefrom. A control system is provided and is configured to detect a motor cooling system failure situation and can operate the second thermal load cooling system to thermally connect the second thermal load cooling system to the motor to cool the electric traction motor in response to detection of the motor cooling system failure situation.

Methods and apparatus related to improving player performance for trajectory-based sports are described. In particular, sporting devices are described that can be utilized to improve player performance in basketball. The sporting devices can include a camera-based system configured to capture and analyze the trajectory of a shot taken by a player. The camera-based system can be configured to provide feedback that allows a player to optimize the trajectory mechanics associated with shooting a basketball. In one embodiment, the camera-based system can be used in conjunction with a training aid that is attached to a basketball rim. The training aid can be configured to improve the trajectory mechanics of individuals utilizing the modified basketball rim to practice their shooting.

A solar roofing system wherein the solar panels are integrated into the existing roof of a building in a watertight fashion, through the use of a starter trim piece, side step flashing pieces which are installed under each course of shingles such that they overlap to form a barrier along the side; a step flashing cover which seals the step flashing with the left and right sides of the solar panels, a Z-cleat that is fastened and sealed to the top of each solar panel, and a hood flashing which attaches to the Z-cleat and provides a sealed, watertight transition to the regular roofing material. The solar roofing system is watertight, and integrated with the actual roof, such that it does not need to be replaced when the roofing is replaced.

Systems for removing or attenuating friction and/or click noise generated during writing with a smart pen are disclosed. In a smart pen, the writing cartridge is biased towards a first side of the smart pen internal cavity by a low-force biasing system without affecting writing cartridge movement. For example, the writing cartridge is comprised of a magnetic material and a magnet is embedded into the first side of the smart pen internal cavity to bias the writing cartridge towards the first side. Alternatively, the material comprising the writing cartridge or smart pen internal cavity is modified, reducing friction between the components. As another alternative, a DSP method identifies analyzes one or more parameters of received audio data to differentiate click noise from audio data, and may receive data from a movement sensor indicating when the writing cartridge has moved to reduce power consumption for identifying click noise.

A method of introducing therapeutic electrical energy to the body tissues in a treatment site beneath the epidermis of a patient is disclosed. The method requires an electro-therapy apparatus with a signal generator and at least one percutaneous electrode array. The percutaneous electrode array is placed on a portion of the patient's body above the treatment site, and a therapeutic signal is passed through the array. The method may also include the use of a non-invasive electrode pad in addition to the array as part of the electro-therapy apparatus. The method may also include monitoring and controlling the voltage associated with the patient's use of the electro-therapy apparatus.

The inventive electrochromic mirror may be used in a vehicle rearview mirror assembly having a light source positioned behind the electrochromic mirror for selectively projecting light through the mirror and/or a light sensor positioned behind the electrochromic mirror for selectively receiving light through the mirror. The electrochromic mirror includes front and rear spaced elements each having front and rear surfaces and being sealably bonded together in a spaced-apart relationship to define a chamber, a layer of transparent conductive material disposed on the rear surface of the front element, an electrochromic material is contained within the chamber, and a second electrode overlies the front surface of the rear element in contact with the electrochromic material. The second electrode includes a layer of reflective material and a partially transmissive coating of and is disposed over substantially all of the front surface of the rear element. The second electrode further includes a region in front of the light source and/or light sensor that is at least partially transmissive.
