摘要: Copolymers and methods using the copolymers control the stability, the homogeneity of mixtures and the chargeability of a nanoparticle. A block copolymer-nanoparticle composition includes first, second and third block units that each include repeating units of respective monomers. The monomer of the first block unit includes a binding group that binds to the nanoparticle. The monomer of the second block unit includes a hydrophobic moiety that provides steric stabilization of the nanoparticle and homogeneity of mixtures of the copolymer-nanoparticle composition in a non-polar medium. The monomer of the third block unit includes a chargeable group that imparts a charge to the nanoparticle. An order of the respective block units in the copolymer and the number of repeating units of the monomer in the respective block units control the stability, the homogeneity of mixtures and the charge of the nanoparticle.

摘要: Liquid electrophotographic ink concentrates and methods of preparing the same are disclosed herein. An example of the method includes preparing a mixture of ink components using a first predetermined thermal profile. The ink components include a resin, a pigment, and a carrier. The method further includes preparing a microfluidizer with a composition at a temperature within a predetermined range and processing the mixture in the prepared microfluidizer to form the concentrate. Processing the mixture includes pressure-feeding the mixture into the prepared microfluidizer, passing the mixture through the prepared microfluidizer for a predetermined number of times, and utilizing a second predetermined thermal profile while passing the mixture through the prepared microfluidizer. A viscosity modifier is added to the mixture before and/or during the processing of the mixture.

摘要: A method for forming a functionalized latex polymer includes polymerizing a heterogeneous dispersion of water insoluble monomers in water, thereby forming a latex polymer. An at least partially water soluble halogenated non-ionic group is reacted with the latex polymer, whereby a halogen is displaced from the non-ionic group, thereby forming an at least partially water soluble non-ionic group that attaches to the latex polymer.

摘要: A water-soluble phthalocyanine dye or naphthalocyanine dye with near-infrared absorption comprises at least one complexed unit. Each unit comprises a phthalocyanine or a naphthalocyanine moiety and, optionally, a metal atom complexed thereto and, if present, having a valency of from 1 to 5, with two valencies complexed to the phthalocynanine ring or the naphthalocyanine ring. Each unit has two linker moieties on opposite sides or adjacent sides of the unit, wherein water-soluble groups are present on at least one of the linkers, on the metal atom, and optionally on the phthalocyanine or naphthalocyanine moiety.

摘要: The present disclosure is drawn to a nanoparticle containing overcoat composition for use in ink jet printing. The composition can include a liquid vehicle and a composite latex particulate. The composite latex particulate can include inorganic nanoparticles at least partially encapsulated by a polymer. The inorganic nanoparticles can be silica, titania, alumina, zinc oxide, silicates, oxides of indium and tin, and combinations thereof. The inorganic nanoparticles can comprise from about 1 wt % to about 20 wt % of the composite latex particulate. The overcoat composition can be used to improve the properties of ink-jetted images.
