摘要: A computer implemented method, data processing system, and processor are provided for thermal throttling control for testing of real-time software. At least one thermal control setting is received. A thermal management system is set to a test mode using the at least one thermal control settings, where the test mode indicates a thermal throttling control using the thermal control setting. The real-time software is executed under the test mode and a test is performed as to whether a real-time deadline associated with the real-time software is met under the test mode. At least one thermal control setting is recorded as a passing thermal control setting in response to the real-time software meeting the real-time deadline.

摘要: A method for providing an alternate keypad arrangement in a virtual keypad is presented. In the alternate keypad arrangement, the virtual keys are laid out in a non-sequential arrangement. In one embodiment, the labels displayed on the virtual keys appear sequential, however the values registered when the user presses the virtual key does not match the label and, hence, the values are laid out in a non-sequential manner. Using alternate keypad arrangements arranged in patterns enables the user to use a common pattern, or patterns easily remembered by the user, for a wide variety of authentication data used to access a wide variety of systems. Rather than remembering the specific PIN codes and passwords, the user simply remembers a pattern and selects virtual keys that match the pattern.

摘要: A system for cache coherency comprises a memory. The memory comprises a plurality of data items and a plurality of directory information items, each data item uniquely associated with one of the plurality of directory information items. Each of the plurality of data items is configured in accordance with one of a plurality of access modes. Each of the plurality of directory information items comprises indicia of the access mode of its associated data item. A multiplexer couples to the memory and comprises a multiplex ratio. A plurality of buffers couple to the multiplexer and to the memory. The multiplex ratio is a function of the number of buffers in the plurality of buffers. A plurality of multiplexer/demultiplexers (MDMs) each uniquely couple to a different one of the plurality of buffers. A plurality of processing elements couple to the memory; each of the processing elements uniquely couples in a point-to-point connection to a different one of the plurality of MDMs. Each of the processing elements is configured to transmit a data request to its associated MDM, the data request identifying one of the plurality of data items and an access mode. Each of the processing elements further comprises a prefetch page cache, the prefetch page cache configured to store a subset of the plurality of data items and the plurality of directory information items. The memory is configured to transmit a data response to each of the processing elements in response to a data request, the data response comprising the identified data item and its associated directory information. Each of the processing elements is farther configured to receive the data response and to compare the associated directory information with the access mode of the data request and in the event that the associated directory information and the access mode of the data request are not compatible, to initiate coherence actions for the requested data item.

摘要: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product are provided for the handling of write mask operations in an XDR™ DRAM memory system. This invention eliminates the need for a two-port array because the mask generation is done as the data is received. Less logic is needed for the mask calculation because only 144 of the 256 possible byte values are decoded. The mask value is generated and stored in a mask array. Independently, the write data is stored in a write buffer. The mask value is utilized to generate a write mask command. Once the write mask command is issued, the write data and the mask value are transmitted to a multiplexer. The multiplexer masks the write data using the mask value, so that the masked data can be stored in the XDR DRAMS.

摘要: A method and apparatus in a data processing system for asynchronous context switching. Requests of graphics processes are received to process graphics data for display in a queue in the graphics adapter. A current context is switched for a first graphics process to a new context for a second graphics process only in response to requests received in the queue. In this manner, the graphics adapter is able to continuously process commands in the queue instead of waiting for new commands to be sent after each context switch.

摘要: A graphics adapter having a processor for processing pixel data is provided. The processor transfers the processed data to the graphics memory in sets of slices of pixel data where each transfer provides several slices, each slice being from a unique pixel. In an alternative embodiment, the storage of the processed data is accomplished within a plurality of memory banks, each of the memory banks being used to store slices of consecutive pixels. The invention further provides for concurrently displaying images having different color depths. This is achieved by a method of organizing data of different pixel depths such that they can be interpreted correctly. Furthermore, the invention provides for double buffering the processed data to get a smooth transition from one image to another.
