Abstract:
There is provided a method of inducing differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells to neural cells or skeletal muscle cells by introduction of a Notch gene. Specifically, the invention provides a method of inducing differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells to neural cells or skeletal muscle cells in vitro, which method comprises introducing a Notch gene and/or a Notch signaling related gene into the cells, wherein the finally obtained differentiated cells are the result of cell division of the bone marrow stromal cells into which the Notch gene and/or Notch signaling related gene have been introduced. The invention also provides a method of inducing further differentiation of the differentiation-induced neural cells to dopaminergic neurons or acetylcholinergic neurons. The invention yet further provides a treatment method for neurodegenerative and skeletal muscle degenerative diseases which employs neural precursor cells, neural cells or skeletal muscle cells produced by the method of the invention.

The grounding conductor is configured to be symmetric about an axis parallel to the radiation direction and passing through the slot, and is provided with a grounding terminal on the axis of symmetry at the second portion. The grounding terminal is to be connected to a ground of the external circuit.
Abstract:
A data distribution apparatus installed in a data center transmits data to a data acquisition apparatus installed in a store via a communication network. The data acquisition apparatus receives authentication information, such as the fingerprint, ID card or the like of a user, for user authentication, and the data distribution apparatus authenticates the user according to the authentication method selected from among multiple authentication methods and corresponding to the authentication information received by the data acquisition apparatus. The data distribution apparatus transmits data changed in format according to the authentication method used to the data acquisition apparatus. In the case of an authentication method being high in security, data is made changeable, and in the case of an authentication method being lower in security, data is changed so as to have an unchangeable format, whereby the unauthorized use of data is prevented.
Abstract:
A neuronal differentiation inducer comprising at least one peptide which can induce the differentiation of at least one cell into a neurocyte. The peptide is an artificially synthesized peptide comprising an amino acid sequence derived from a BC-box of at least one protein belonging to the SOCS protein family or an amino acid sequence having a partial modification in the BC-box-derived amino acid sequence, wherein the BC-box-derived amino acid sequence is composed of at least 10 contiguous amino acid residues selected in the amino acid sequence constituting the BC-box.
Abstract:
For example, fingerprint information read by a scanner is collated with fingerprint information read by a terminal apparatus used by an operator, so that on the basis of the collation result, the operator is permitted to use this scanner. This configuration allows any operator to use the scanner. Further, the fingerprint information and the like temporarily stored for this collation is deleted on completion of the use of the scanner, so that fingerprint information regarded as important personal information is stored only for a limited duration. This avoids the risk of leakage of the fingerprint information. In conventional image processing systems using fingerprint information, the fingerprint information of operators needed to be registered and stored in advance. This has caused the problem of a risk that the stored fingerprint information leaks to the outside, as well as the problem that the use of the image processing systems is limited to those who have registered their fingerprint information. The present invention has resolved these problems.
Abstract:
In a positive electrode of a non-aqueous electrolyte battery, at least one metal oxide selected from the group consisting of titanium dioxide, alumina, zinc oxide, chromium oxide, lithium oxide, nickel oxide, copper oxide and iron oxide is dispersed between particles of an active substance for the positive electrode, whereby a discharge capacity or a discharge-recharge capacity of the non-aqueous electrolyte battery is improved.
Abstract:
Inside a multilayer dielectric substrate, there are a spiral-shaped first slot set in a part of a first ground conductor layer and a spiral-shaped second slot in a part of a second ground conductor layer put on the front surface of the multilayer dielectric substrate, the first slot and the second slot are opposite in a spiral winding direction and the first slot and the second slot overlap with each other as viewed from the top face, so that a resonance phenomenon can be produced at a frequency lower than a resonance frequency of a resonator with a conventional structure.
Abstract:
In a positive electrode of a non-aqueous electrolyte battery, at least one alkaline earth metal oxide selected from the group consisting of magnesium oxide, calcium oxide and barium oxide is dispersed between particles of an active substance for positive electrode, whereby a discharge capacity or recharge-discharge capacity of the non-aqueous electrolyte battery just after the preparation and after the storing at high temperature is improved.
Abstract:
A transmission line apparatus includes: a substrate 101 with a ground conductor plane; and first and second signal strips 102a, 102b supported on the substrate 101 in parallel with each other. The apparatus further includes at least one additional capacitance element 301 that connects the first and second signal strips 102a, 102b together. The element 301 includes: a first additional conductor 303 spaced from the first signal strip 102a; a second additional conductor 305 spaced from the second signal strip 102b; and a third additional conductor 307 connected to the first and second additional conductors 303, 305 at respective points. When measured in a signal transmission direction, the smallest width W3a of the third additional conductor 307 is shorter than the length L1 or L2 of the first or second additional conductor 303 or 305. And the additional capacitance element 301 has a resonant frequency that is higher than the frequency of a signal being transmitted.
