摘要: Embodiments are directed to an orthopedic nail that includes a collar having a sidewall defining a first opening extending from the first end to the second end along a first axis of the collar, a second opening configured to engage with an orthopedic fastener, first engagement features positioned at the first end of the first opening, and second engagement features positioned at a second end of the first opening. The orthopedic nail can include a shaft defining a third opening positioned adjacent to the first end of the shaft and configured to allow the orthopedic fastener to pass through the shaft, and third engagement features positioned between the third opening and a second end of the shaft. The third engagement features can be configured to rotationally couple to the second engagement features. The orthopedic nail can include a locking mechanism that is configured to couple to the engagement features.

摘要: A surgical nail, such as an intramedullary nail, includes a nail body that includes a proximal end, an elongate intermediate portion comprising an intermediate flexible portion; and a distal end. The proximal end and the distal end are coupled and offset from one another by the elongate intermediate portion. The wherein the intermediate flexible portion comprises at least two cables boned one to another and configured to maintain a fixed length. The at least one cable comprises two or more cables twisted around one another in a helical arrangement and welded together. The proximal portion and the threaded end portion can be coupled together by the intermediate flexible portion as a unitary, integrated element prior to any use of the surgical nail in an implant procedure. The intermediate flexible portion is configured to permit the proximal portion to bend at an angle relative to the distal portion as a unitary, integrated element.

摘要: A plating system for mending a periprosthetic fracture is provided. The system includes an intramedullary rod, a first and second plate, and a plurality of fasteners. The intramedullary rod has a plurality of transverse holes. The first and second locking plates each have a plurality of openings and is configured to have a contour similar to a surface of a bone to which the plate is applied. Also provided is method of mending fractures by using the disclosed system. In the implanted condition, the first and second locking plates are placed across the periprosthetic fracture and each of the plurality of fasteners is inserted through one opening of the first and second plurality of openings and one transverse hole.

摘要: A device is provided including a distal nail portion and a proximal nail portion that can be connected to each other to attain a rigid configuration. The device is to be placed internally within the medullary cavities of bones. The device is placed intramedullarily in order to minimize incision size, excessive bone resection and post-operative tendon damage and tenderness. Additionally, one particular method for using the device is provided that includes placing and affixing the distal nail in bone, placing the proximal nail in bone, connecting the distal nail to the proximal nail, doing the desired geometrical adjustments, affixing the proximal nail to the distal nail by tightening the connection and affixing the proximal nail to attain a rigid configuration.

摘要: Described is a locking intramedullary nail for insertion in the medullary cavity of hollow bones for treating bone fractures or for joint stiffening. The nail comprises an oblong shaft having at least one holder for a locking screw. In the region of an opening a roller or ball-shaped sleeve having a bore for receiving the locking screw is arranged. The sleeve which is supported in the shaft in a freely pivotable manner can be locked in a positionally stable manner in the shaft. This affords the ability to introduce the locking screws during the implantation of the intramedullary nail at an optimum angle for the respective anatomical or pathological situation of the patient and to subsequently lock it permanently at a constant angle.
