摘要: A throttle shaft and butterfly construction is formed by molding both components from composite plastic, the shaft having integral bosses which are received in holes formed in the throttle plate. The bosses are ultrasonically or heat staked to lock the throttle plate onto the throttle shaft. The butterfly has ribs extending across a face of the butterfly substantially to the edge of the valve in a direction parallel to the flow of air across the butterfly to stiffen the butterfly and reinforcing ribs on the butterfly parallel to the throttle shaft to stiffen both the butterfly and the throttle shaft.

摘要: An air intake assembly for internal combustion engines, in which a throttle valve unit is inserted into a casing molded in one piece with an air inlet leading to an air filter of the engine. The casing and the throttle valve unit have complementary tapered portions which are sealed when the throttle valve unit is inserted into the casing. An opening in the casing is surrounded by O-ring seals which seal a bore in the throttle valve unit extending to a valve secured to a rotatable shaft.

摘要: A rotating shaft and a drive shaft are used in an air intake apparatus for an internal combustion engine. At one end portion of the rotating shaft and the drive shaft a sphere portion and a projection portion are formed, and another end portion of the rotating shaft and the drive shaft a cup portion and a faucet portion are formed. The sphere portion is inserted to the cup portion and further the projection portion is engaged with the faucet portion, thereby a universal joint is formed. Since a connection structure between the rotating shaft and the drive shaft is constituted with few component elements, a cost reduction in the air intake apparatus for the internal combustion engine can be improved.

摘要: A throttle body (11) has a through-bore (18), a circular throttle blade (20) of nominal uniform thickness is disposed within the through-bore and on a cylindrical shaft (22). The through-bore has two generally semi-circular ledges (56, 58) spaced upstream and downstream respectively from an imaginary flat plane that contains the shaft axis, each at a distance substantially equal to one-half the blade thickness. One ledge occupies essentially one semi-circumference of the through-bore for sealing with one of the opposite semi-circular perimeters of the throttle blade when the blade is closed, and the other occupies essentially an opposite semi-circumference of the through-bore for sealing with the other semi-circular perimeter of the blade when the blade is closed. The downstream ledge has an upstream facing surface that is flat and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and the upstream ledge has a downstream facing surface that departs slightly from a planar one that is flat and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis so as to conform the upstream ledge to a like slight departure in shape of the corresponding semi-circular perimeter of the blade due to engine intake vacuum when the blade is closed.

摘要: A throttle body and bracket assembly permits the joining of the bracket to the throttle body without fasteners by incorporating preselected and complementary geometries on a mating portion of the bracket and on a portion of the throttle body. These mating portions, which may be in the form of a dovetail-type configuration, may be fit together in locking fashion, and the bracket may be further held in place by securing a lip or retainer portion of the bracket between the free ends of the air hose and the throttle body when they are joined. Additionally, a throttle body may be molded to include an idle air by-pass passage having an open, exterior surface that is sealed by the mating portion of the bracket when it is placed in its mated position with the throttle body.

摘要: An exhaust butterfly in an exhaust conduit of an internal combustion engine is supported by way of bearing journals by positive plug-in connections. To simplify installation, the bearing journals and the bearing sleeves are designed in such a way that, to install the exhaust butterfly, the bearing journals are each pressed completely into the respective bearing sleeves counter to the force of a spring. In the case of a multiflow exhaust line, between adjacent exhaust lines cylindrical transverse passages are provided in each of which a driver is rotatably mounted. At one end, the driver has a recess which is designed as a bearing sleeve and into which the bearing journal of the first exhaust butterfly is inserted to produce a driving connection. The other end of the driver is designed as a bearing journal which is likewise inserted into a recess in the second exhaust butterfly to produce a driving connection.

摘要: A throttle device having a throttle-flap connection piece which is produced from plastic. For an efficient production of the throttle-flap connection piece form plastic in the plastic injection-molding technique, it is necessary to avoid undesirable shrinkage in the pivoting region of the throttle flap and to seal off the bearing arrangements against penetrating plastic during the injection operation. The throttle device includes an annular insertion part which is arranged in the pivoting region of the throttle flap and which, connected to the bearing arrangements is embedded into the throttle-flap connection piece made form plastic, in order to protect the bearing arrangement against penetrating plastic. The injected-round insertion part is suitable for throttle devices which are made from plastic and which are provided for mixture-compressing spark-ignition or air-compressing auto-ignition internal-combustion engines.

摘要: A tooling and procedure for installing a plurality of throttle plates onto a single throttle shaft all at the same time, using arbors/plungers secured to a tool holder, each of the arbors having a lower face surface with a suction provision for retaining a throttle plate against it for transport into one of several bores in a throttle body while allowing the throttle plates to be aligned with and attached to a flat on the throttle shaft. Limited lateral movement between the arbors/plungers provides for independent centering of each arbor/plunger relative to its bore, allowing simultaneous installation of a number of throttle plates.
