The shaft connected to the flap valve within the composite housing. The press in place gasket is positioned within the gasket groove.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for controlling charge motion in the air intake manifold includes a barrel-style valve rotatably mounted in the lower air intake manifold between the linearly arranged set of air inlets and the first and second sets of laterally offset air outlets which branch to the first and second cylinder banks, respectively. The barrel valve includes a plurality of openings and is rotatable between a fully open position wherein the plurality of openings are in alignment with the respective air inlets and outlets in the lower manifold allowing substantially unimpeded airflow therethrough, and fully closed position wherein the plurality of openings are substantially fully out of alignment with the respective air inlets and outlets substantially preventing air flow therethrough while allowing air flow through an air bypass formed adjacent to each air inlet and outlet pair.
Abstract:
An air induction system for a vehicle is disclosed, wherein the air induction system includes a resonator bypass valve for control of an air flow to an engine and engine induction noise levels emitted therefrom.
Abstract:
An inlet for a compressor having a housing defining a generally C-shaped inlet opening and a rotor cavity configured to contain first and second rotors is provided. The inlet includes an inlet duct defining an inlet opening and a generally C-shaped outlet opening. The inlet duct has an inner wall defining a cavity operable to communicate airflow between the inlet opening and the generally C-shaped outlet opening. The generally C-shaped outlet opening of the inlet duct is substantially similar to the shape of the generally C-shaped inlet opening of the housing. The inner wall includes a floor portion and a roof portion. At least a portion of the floor portion is contoured to impart a velocity component to the airflow complementary to the tangential velocity of each of the first and second rotors during rotation of the first and second rotors.
Abstract:
The present teachings generally include a motorcycle having an engine with at least two cylinders. A first cylinder head has a first top portion and a first side portion. A second cylinder head has a second top portion and a second side portion. The first cylinder head and the second cylinder head are associated with the engine. A frame member defines an integral air box that communicates air into the engine. The frame member couples to the first side portion of the first cylinder head and the second side portion of the second cylinder head.
Abstract:
An air-cleaner includes a housing attached to an induction system of an internal combustion engine. The air-cleaner includes a filter element located within the housing and separating the internal of the housing into a dust side and clean side, the dust side having an introduction portion for introducing an external air into the housing, the clean side having a feeder portion for feeding a filtered air to an engine. The air-cleaner includes a plate-shaped adsorption element including an adsorbent to adsorb a vaporized fuel returned from an engine side and permitting an air to pass therethrough, the adsorption element arranged to cross the direction of an air flow and fitted to occupy the entire surface of the clean side in the housing. The adsorption element defines a port connecting the filter element and the feeder portion, and includes a valve disc to open or close the port. The valve disc is controlled to open during air inspiration for permitting an air to flow toward the feeder portion. The valve disc includes an adsorbent, and permits an air to pass therethrough.
Abstract:
A mounting structure on motorcycle for protecting a capacitor from vibration and heat. In an engine having an upright cylinder a throttle body is connected to an intake path of the cylinder via an insulator, and the throttle body is connected to an air cleaner via a connecting tube. The throttle body is thereby elastically supported relative to the engine and a vehicle body frame via the insulator and the connecting tube. A capacitor is disposed at a position downward of the throttle body. The capacitor is supported integrally with the throttle body using a lower portion of a throttle body cover that covers both left and right sides of the throttle body. A vibration isolating support structure is thus achieved for the capacitor by using the throttle body that is elastically supported.
Abstract:
A valve regulating device intended to regulate the circulation of a fluid in the region of an opening, said device consisting of a pivoting valve body, of an annular support body integrating two opposing bearings mounting said valve body in a rotational manner, and of a control pin, wherein said valve body may be displaced in rotation between a totally open position and a closed position, in which it rests against the annular seat provided by the support body; the support body is provided with a seal with a first extending functional segment and a second extending functional segment having protruding lateral extensions, for example in the form of ribs, on the face of the support body that bears against the edge of the opening, said extensions also being interconnected by intermediate joining portions, which also extend in a protruding manner over the bodies of the two opposing bearings so as to provide a continuous peripheral seal around the opening when the regulating device is mounted on said opening.
Abstract:
An intake manifold with a swirl system for an internal combustion engine having a number of cylinders; the intake manifold has, for each cylinder, an intake conduit connecting the intake manifold to the cylinder and in turn having two parallel channels; the swirl system has, for each intake conduit, a throttle valve housed inside a channel of the intake conduit to vary the air flow section of the channel, and which has a throttle mounted to rotate about an axis of rotation.
Abstract:
An air induction manifold has manifold air passages. A carrier has air passages to communicate air from the manifold air passages to an engine. The carrier has a first sealing interface for a manifold and a second sealing interface for an engine cylinder. The first sealing interface seals the communication of air between the manifold air passage and the carrier air passage. A valve is mounted to the carrier that controls the communication of air through the carrier air passage.
