Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of filling a pressure medium accumulator with a housing having an inner space that is subdivided into two chambers by a metallic pleated bellows used as a media-separating element, the first chamber thereof being filled with a gas and the second chamber being filled with a liquid pressure medium, and wherein a bottom valve is provided in a hydraulic port, its closing member being operable by the media-separating element, said valve permitting filling of the second chamber with fluid and preventing a complete evacuation of the second chamber. To enable reliable filling of the above-mentioned chambers with corresponding media without damaging the pleated bellows, the invention proposes a combination of the following process steps: a) evacuation of the second chamber b) filling of the second chamber with pressure medium, and c) filling the gas into the first chamber.
Abstract:
A system for remotely controlling an undersea device. The system employs a gas-pressurized liquid reservoir that can be recharged from at least one replaceable gas bottle. A pressure-regulating valve is employed to control the pressure of the liquid leaving the reservoir. A number of one-shot units, each in the form of a squib-actuated valve coupled with a piston accumulator, are employed to create a hydraulic pilot for a hydraulic direction control valve. The control valve functions to direct pressurized liquid from the reservoir to a hydraulic actuator or other type of hydraulic device.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a pressure fluid accumulator with a housing having its interior subdivided into two chambers by a media-separating element, the first chamber being filled with a gas and the second chamber being filled with a liquid, and wherein in a hydraulic port a bottom valve is provided whose closure member is operable by the media-separating element and which permits filling the second chamber with liquid and prevents complete evacuation of the second chamber. In order to prevent a damage of the bottom valve and an inadvertent escape of fluid and, thus, ensure a considerable increase in the reliability in operation, according to the present invention, the closure member can be moved by the media-separating element to adopt a position in which it fulfils the function of a hydraulic piston.
Abstract:
Pressure of a gas in a gas accumulator coupled to a fluid circuit is measured in a system involving separating gas from pressure fluid in a gas accumulator by a separating element, measuring pressure of the pressure fluid with a pressure detector coupled to the gas accumulator when the separating element is in a preadjustable position having a gas pressure assignable to it, detecting the preadjustable position by a monitor coupled to the pressure detector, and initiating measurement of the fluid pressure upon detection of the separating element in the preadjustable position.
Abstract:
An accumulator with sensor through rollers provided with a rod projecting into a bladder on a cover of a vessel body, a bearing of a float slidable axially on the rod, and also with rollers at a contact portion of the float with the bladder, the bladder sliding the float through the rollers at the bladder contact portion.
Abstract:
A guide projecting into a bladder is provided on a plug of a vessel body. A cup-shaped sensor is slidably provided on the guide, and an element for actuating a switch is provided on the cup-shaped sensor. The cup-shaped sensor is caused to slide along the guide by the bladder deformable in accordance with change in the pressure of liquid within the accumulator, so as to actuate the switch.
Abstract:
A gas-pressurized collapsible bladder inside a fluid accumulator in a hydraulic system has a detection device that informs a user about the state of inflation of the bladder. Abnormalities in system operation, e.g., a gas leak from the collapsible bladder or sudden turning on of the fluid-actuated device in the system can cause bladder deflation whereas clogging of lines or sudden stoppage of a fluid-actuated device may cause fluid pressure rise in the system, and hence, deflation of the collapsible bladder to actuate the detection device. In one aspect of the invention, the condition of the bladder is detected by use of a permanent magnet that actuates a reed relay. In another aspect of the invention, a light-emitting diode, a reflector and a photosensor detect the bladder condition.
Abstract:
A switch operable by a piston which is movable within a piston chamber, comprises a switch housing having a longitudinal bore, a hollow housing member extending from one end of the switch housing into the longitudinal bore, a tubular switch member, and a central pin. The switch member is axially movable in the longitudinal bore between a first position remote from the housing member and a second position adjacent to housing member, and has an inner surface with transverse cross-sectional dimensions greater than those of the housing member outer surface within the longitudinal bore. The central pin is fixed to the switch member, extends within the switch member and is radially spaced from the inner surface of the switch member. A helical switch spring engages and extends between the switch member and the housing member with its first end portion received within the housing member and its opposite second end portion surrounding the pin and received within the switch member. The pin and housing member radially support the spring against bending in radial directions in all positions of the switch member. Switch elements are mounted in the switch housing for sensing the position of the switch member.
Abstract:
A piston-type accumulator in a hydraulic circuit is provided with an interior sleeve proximate the gas valve for limiting piston movement and providing a minimum predetermined accumulator gas volume. By monitoring the pressure of the gas charge in the minimum predetermined gas volume, it may be determined whether the accumulator retains sufficient energy for proper operation in the hydraulic circuit or requires recharging.
