Techniques for compensating for frequency offset of a frequency used in a translation of a signal from a first band to a second band may include using a frequency reference signal located in a different band from an information-bearing signal, where the different band may be a guard band. The frequency reference signal may be offset from a particular frequency, which may be a center frequency, of the information-bearing signal by a known amount. The frequency reference signal may be received by the transmitting station, a frequency offset may be derived, and the frequency offset may be used to pre-compensate further transmitted signals. At another station, the received frequency reference signal may be used to lock a local oscillator for demodulation and/or transmission of the information-bearing signal based on the known offset of the frequency reference signal from the frequency of the information-bearing signal.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a network listening method and device, where the method includes: determining, by a first device according to a type of a network listening resource, a time-frequency pattern that is of a first sequence and is corresponding to the network listening resource of this type; and then transmitting the first sequence to a second device by using the time-frequency pattern of the first sequence, so that the second device performs network listening according to the first sequence. The time-frequency pattern of the first sequence determined in this process is a time-frequency pattern obtained by transforming a time-frequency pattern of a base sequence, and a network listening signal obtained therefrom, that is, the time-frequency pattern of the first sequence, is simple, which can achieve a purpose of reducing complexity of generating a network listening signal and computational complexity of parsing a network listening signal.

Systems and methods for detection of a ternary sequence are provided. An example apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive an OFDM signal comprising a plurality of OFDM Resource Elements (REs). A processor is coupled to the receiver and is configured to detect a presence of a known ternary sequence in the received OFDM signal. The processor is configured to detect the ternary sequence by determining a correlation between a first set of the OFDM REs and a first set of symbols of the ternary sequence. A power of each RE of a second set of the OFDM REs is determined. A sum of the powers is determined. A detection value is based on the correlation and the sum. The ternary sequence is determined to be present in the signal based on a comparison of the detection value to a threshold.

A method for performing high speed mode detection of a carrier frequency offset (CFO) includes receiving a Zadoff-Chu signal at a wireless device, and determining a plurality of correlation peaks based on a correlation of the signal with one or more known Zadoff-Chu sequences. The method includes determining a carrier frequency offset (CFO) associated with the signal based on a phases associated with the plurality of correlation peaks and a coarse CFO estimate. The coarse CFO estimate may be determined based on a squared power ratio of particular pairs of the plurality of correlation peaks and the phases may be used to remove ambiguity associated with the coarse CFO estimate.

Techniques are described for carrier frequency offset (CFO) and channel estimation of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmissions over multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) frequency-selective fading channels. A wireless transmitter forms blocks of symbols by inserting training symbols within two or more blocks of information-bearing symbols. The transmitter applies a hopping code to each of the blocks of symbols to insert a null subcarrier at a different position within each of the blocks of symbols, and a modulator outputs a wireless signal in accordance with the blocks of symbols. A receiver receives the wireless signal and estimates the CFO, and outputs a stream of estimated symbols based on the estimated CFO.
