摘要: An apparatus that allows a glove wearer or the wearer of a prosthetic limb to operate a device having a capacitive touchscreen is disclosed. There are three solutions provided in the disclosed invention. The first embodiment of the disclosed invention is directed to a conductive finger sock that can be applied to a digit of a non-conductive artificial limb. The finger sock may cover the whole digit of the artificial limb or may cover only the tip. The second embodiment is an adhesive element having a conductive material such as a conductive thread or a conductive sponge material. The adhesive element can be attached to a glove or to a prosthetic limb or may be used as an actual bandage. The third embodiment of the disclosed invention is directed to a factory integrated conductive tip that is part of a digit of a non-conductive artificial limb. Regardless of the embodiment, the conductive element may be attached to the wearer's skin by a conductive line or may be used without the conductive line and thus may function in isolation.

摘要: Features for a powered prosthetic thumb are described. The thumb provides for rotation of a digit that mimics the natural movement possible with a sound thumb. The thumb may attach to a full or partial prosthetic hand or socket on a residual limb. The thumb may include an upper assembly, including a prosthetic thumb digit, rotatably attached to a mount about a pinch axis and a lateral axis. The digit may rotate about only the pinch axis, only the lateral axis, or both the pinch and lateral axes simultaneously. A first actuator may actuate to cause rotation of the digit about the pinch axis. A second actuator may actuate to cause rotation of the digit about the lateral axis. The first and second actuators may be actuated together at appropriate speeds to cause rotation about both the pinch and lateral axes simultaneously. A swaying chassis may be rotatably connected with the upper assembly and a lower assembly about various offset axes to provide for rotation about the lateral axis.

摘要: The present disclosure provides methods and systems for receiving, with processing circuitry of an implant device, an electrical signal from a free tissue graft attached to a portion of a nerve (e.g., a nerve branch or fascicle) through an electrical conductor in electrical communication with the free tissue graft (e.g., muscle graft), the nerve having reinnervated the free tissue graft. The electrical signal from the free tissue graft has a voltage amplitude of greater than or equal to about 150 microvolts. The processing circuitry stores signal data corresponding to the electrical signal from the free tissue graft in a memory accessible to the processing circuitry.

摘要: A harness for an upper extremity below-elbow prosthesis. The harness includes a humeral cuff having medial and lateral pivot arms configured to removably attach to the socket of a below-elbow prosthesis. The humeral cuff enables a user to suspend the prosthesis without the need of a shoulder strap/harness or body harness. A cable system is affixed to the pivot arms and includes a wheel coupling the pivot arms to the control arm of a hook of the below-elbow prosthesis, thereby enabling users to operate the hook by simple flexion and extension of their arm.

摘要: Disclosed herein a system and a method to detect an amputee's hand muscles movements for controlling an artificial limb prosthesis. The system may comprise a plurality of passive tag positions and wearable band with a plurality of on-board position readers. The plurality of on-board position readers may be configured to capture data associated with a first plurality of passive tags positions at a first moment, and capture data associated with a second plurality of passive tags positions at a second moment. The system may further include one or more processors configured to detect at least one of the muscle contraction, the muscle relaxation, and the muscle inactivity based on the data captured at the first moment and at the second moment, and thereby control the artificial hand prosthesis movements responsive to detection at least one of the muscle contraction, the muscle relaxation, and the muscle inactivity.
