    摘要: The invention relates to a device and a method for manipulating a fibrous web (10). The device comprises at least one blower (21A, 21B) provided with a flow-preventing element (24A, 24B) which is arranged to produce at least one blow (26A, 26B) substantially in the direction of the fibrous web (10), and a friction element (28) against which the fibrous web (10) is arranged to be pressed at least partially from the effect of said blow (26A, 26B) and flow-preventing element (24A, 24B) to apply a friction force resisting the motion of the fibrous web (10) to the fibrous web (10). According to the invention, the blow (26A, 26B) is directed substantially away from the friction element (28) and the friction element (28) comprises a surface profile which is arranged such that, from the effect of said at least one blow (26A, 26B), a continuous vacuum is created on the surface of the fibrous web (10) on the side of the friction element (28). Due to its intensified friction effect, the device according to the invention is applicable especially for board and, by means of it, it is possible to form e.g. an air cutting device in the tail-threading section of a board machine.

    摘要: A web-guiding system for guiding a web of media travelling from upstream to downstream along a transport path in an in-track direction, including a web-guiding structure and an air source. The web-guiding structure includes an exterior surface having a pattern of recesses formed into the exterior surface, wherein the web of media travels past the web-guiding structure with a first side of the web of media contacting at least some non-recessed portions of the exterior surface of the web-guiding structure. The air source provides an air flow between the first side of the web of media and the exterior surface of the web-guiding structure thereby providing a lifting force to lift portions of the web of media overlying the recesses away from the exterior surface of the web-guiding structure.

    摘要: A non-contact dancer mechanism for conveying a web of brittle material includes a guide rail and a variable position web support plenum adjustably positioned on the guide rail. The variable position web support plenum may include an arcuate outer surface with a plurality of fluid vents for emitting a fluid to support the web of brittle material over and spaced apart from the arcuate outer surface thereby preventing mechanical contact and damage to the web of brittle material. A support plenum counterbalance may be mechanically coupled to the variable position web support plenum, wherein the support plenum counterbalance supports at least a portion of the weight of the variable position web support plenum on the guide rail. Apparatuses incorporating the non-contact dancer mechanism and methods for using the non-contact dancer mechanism for handling continuous webs of brittle material are also disclosed.

An air nozzle assembly is positioned within the air chamber and includes upper and lower nozzle plates that extend across the air chamber and spaced from each other to form a web delivery channel that is aligned with the web entry and web exit. Each of the nozzle plates includes a plurality of air nozzles extending through the nozzle plate and configured to pass pressurized air from the air chamber into the web delivery channel such that a web of material entering the web entry is drawn, for example, by venturi pressure, from the web entry through the web delivery channel and out the web exit.

A guiding device for contact-free guiding a web is provided with the device having a surface for facing the web and a multitude of gas outlets disposed in the surface and adapted for providing a hover cushion for the web. Further, an apparatus for coating a web and a method for contact-free guiding a web is provided that comprises moving the web over a surface and emitting a multitude of gas streams from the surface, thereby generating a hover cushion between the surface and the web. Further, a method for producing a thin-film solar cell is provided that comprises a method for contact-free guiding a web according to embodiments described herein. The method for producing a thin-film solar cell further comprises depositing a back contact on the web and depositing a transparent and conductive oxide layer.

    摘要: An optical fiber assembly includes: a component defining at least one inlet for optical fibers, an adapter, an optical fiber cable connected to the adapter, and a push-fit connector. The component includes a through-hole for passage of the optical fibers and an associated mating region to engage the push-fit connector. The optical fiber cable connected to the adapter defines a connection region with a predetermined cross-sectional shape for mating with the push-fit connector. The push-fit connector includes a first end, a second end, and a through-passage extending between the first and second ends. The first end is push-fit connected with the mating region. The second end is push-fit connected to the connection region. Optical fibers from the optical fiber cable can be directed through the push-fit connector and the through-hole. A method of installing optical fibers in a joint housing is also disclosed.

    摘要: An apparatus transfers a moving web of a flexible material from a web guide surface. The web guide surface outputs the moving web, and the moving web has at least one web edge. The apparatus includes at least one edge nozzle, each edge nozzle being positioned so as to be proximate one at least one web edge. Each edge nozzle is configured for separating the moving web from the web guide surface and is further configured to function as a severing device. Each edge nozzle is thereby configured for transversely severing the moving web and forming a new start portion thereof. Each edge nozzle briefly ejects therefrom a high-energy air jet, each high-energy air jet being ejected between the web guide surface and the moving web.

A component of the resultant of all of the frictional forces acting on the web is caused to point in the lateral direction of the desired web shaft.
