摘要: A cutting structure, for a rotary drill bit, is of the kind comprising a preform cutting element having a front cutting face formed of superhard material, such as polycrystalline diamond, and a rear face bonded to a carrier of less hard material, such as cemented tungsten carbide. The cutting element is bonded to the carrier by means of an alloy having the following composition:Ni about 30% to about 60%Pd about 30% to about 62%Si about 3% to about 15%wherein % is weight percent. An alternative alloy has the following composition:Cr about 4% to about 10%Fe about 1% to about 5%Si about 2% to about 7%C about 0.01% to about 0.10%B about 2% to about 5%Ni Balancewherein % is weight percent.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for applying a hardface alloy coating on a metal substrate concurrently with a nitriding procedure so that the hardface coating is deposited and nitrided in one step. The deposition of the metal hardface coating is conducted in an atmosphere of nitrogen under nitriding conditions. The single step of metal deposition and nitriding is made possible by using a hardface alloy composition containing 20-75% niobium, 5-35% titanium and 10-60% tungsten.

摘要: A discharge coating apparatus comprises an assembly for applying a vibrational motion in the longitudinal direction of an electrode while applying a voltage pulse in synchronization with the vibration to cause electrical discharge between the surface of a workpiece and the electrode and the formation of a coating layer on the workpiece of the material of the electrode due to the heat produced by the electrical discharge. An additional motion is applied to the electrode to cause the electrode to undergo reciprocal travel towards and away from the suirface of the workpiece at an angle relative thereto. The additional motion can be a rotational motion. The electrode can be formed with a concave portion at its tip or with an axial bore so that only an annulus of the electrode contacts the workpiece. The additional motion can be a skipping movement by utilizing a skipping mechanism consisting of an elastic memebr.

摘要: Disclosed is a nickel-base alloy eminently suited for use as a welding filler material. The alloy contains over 40% molybdenum with an effective content of silicon to provide a valuable combination of engineering properties which includes the combination of high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and welding characteristics. Commercial production of the alloy may be in many forms, for example, castings, powder metallurgy articles, wrought products and the like. A typical alloy of this invention contains about 42% molybdenum, 0.25% silicon and the balance nickel plus modifying elements and impurities.

摘要: A nickel-palladium-based brazing alloy is disclosed having a composition consisting essentially of about 38 to about 55 atom percent palladium, about 19 to about 34.5 atom percent iron, about 11 to about 20 atom percent silicon, the balance being essentially nickel and incidential impurities. These alloys are especially suited for use as brazing filler metals in joining stainless steels and/or superalloys at temperatures above about 1000.degree. C. A process for brazing honeycomb structures formed at least in part from stainless steels and/or superalloys is also disclosed.
