An aluminium alloy container closure 5 bears a peripheral shoulder 4, and on a tear-out region defined by a score line 6 is rotatably mounted a sheet metal tab 10 formed with a cam portion 18 and a ring handle 20, the former bearing against said shoulder and causing a rupture at the score line, on rotation of the tab in the direction of arrow " A ". The tab is pivoted by a rivet 9 formed integrally with the closure 5. The tear-out region may further be completely removed by pulling outwardly on the ring handle, which may be upturned slightly from the plane of the closure, or bear a raised lug to facilitate rotation. The tear-out portion may comprise the complete closure or a portion thereof.
