Abstract:
Receiving a plurality of images of a first wall of the patient's heart, the plurality including a first image captured at a time ij and a second image captured at a time t2, determining, based on the plurality of images, a first characteristic of movement of at least a wall portion of the first wall during a time period spanning time t1 and time t2, the first characteristic of movement being determined by using one or more image processing techniques, and the first, characteristic of movement being based on at least one of: (i) a shape of the wall portion in the first image and a shape of the wall portion in the second image, and (ii) a location of the wall portion in the first image and a location of the wall portion in the second image: and outputting an indication of the first characteristic of movement.
Abstract:
A system and method for securing access to sensitive content on the web is disclosed. The approach automates compartmentalization practices for accessing different kinds of content with different browser instances. The automation is transparent to the user and does not require any modification of how non-sensitive content is accessed. For sensitive content, a Fresh Browser Instance (FBI) is automatically created to access the content. In addition, the automatic FBI system may provide support for novice users with predefined sensitive content sites as well as for more experienced users who can define conflict of interest (COI) classes which allows content from sites in the same user-defined class to coexist in a browser instance.

Abstract:
Provided in one embodiment is an electrochemical cell, comprising: (i) a plurality of electrodes, comprising a fuel electrode that comprises aluminum and an air electrode that absorbs gaseous oxygen, the electrodes being operable in a discharge mode wherein the aluminum is oxidized at the fuel electrode and oxygen is reduced at the air electrode, and (ii) an ionically conductive medium, comprising an organic solvent; wherein during non-use of the cell, the organic solvent promotes formation of a protective interface between the aluminum of the fuel electrode and the ionically conductive medium, and wherein at an onset of the discharge mode, at least some of the protective interface is removed from the aluminum to thereafter permit oxidation of the aluminum during the discharge mode.
Abstract:
Circuits and methods for photovoltaic inverters are provided. In some embodiments, a power inverter circuit is provided, the inverter comprising: an input terminal for a direct current source coupled to a first conductor; a first side of a capacitor coupled to the input terminal; a second input terminal for the direct current source coupled to first sides of a first switch and second switch; a second side of the capacitor coupled to first sides of a third switch and fourth switch; a first side of a first inductor coupled to the first input terminal, the first side of the capacitor and the first conductor; a second side of the first inductor coupled to second sides of the first switch and third switch; and a first side of a second inductor coupled to a second conductor, and second sides of the second switch and fourth switch.
Abstract:
A method for ultrasound modulation of the brain for treatment of stroke, brain injury, and other neurological disorders or the improvement of cognitive functioning in patients. The method may include identifying a stimulation site of a brain, where the stimulation site is associated with a brain disorder, applying ultrasound to the stimulation site, and initiating physical therapy. Alternately, ultrasound may be applied to the brain to enhance aspects of cognitive functioning by the combination of exercising the functionality of the brain and applying ultrasound to the region(s) or structures of the brain known to be associated with that function.
Abstract:
The present invention encompasses a phototrophic microorganism with altered and controlled adhesive properties. One aspect of the present invention encompasses a genetically modified phototrophic microorganism capable of controlled adhesion. The microorganism comprises a recombinant nucleic acid construct, wherein the nucleic acid construct comprises an inducible promoter operably-linked to a nucleic acid encoding an adhesion protein.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and media for updating a classifier are provided, in some embodiments, systems for updating a classifier are provided, the systems comprising: a hardware processor that is configured to: receive a sample; for each of a first plurality of weak learners, classify the sample using the weak learner, determine an outcome of the classification, and determine an up-dated error rate of the weak learner based on the outcome of the classification and at least one of: (i) a count of positive samples used to update the classifier, and (ii) a count of negative samples used to update the classifier; select a first weak learner from the first plurality of weak learners based on the updated error rate of the first weak learner; and update tire classifier based on the first weak learner.
