Abstract:
In a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, equipped with an electronically controlled hydraulic system for the variable operation of the engine's inlet valves, an indicator of the differences in the amount of air aspirated by the cylinders of the engine during the respective induction phase is provided and said system controls the various inlet valves of the engine in a differentiated manner, varying the time and/or opening travel for the purpose of minimizing the differences between the amounts of air aspirated by the various cylinders of the engine.
Abstract:
An internal-combustion engine with two inlet valves for each cylinder is provided with an electronically controlled system for actuating said valves. The electronic control unit is programmed so as to control in a differentiated way the two inlet valves according to a first law of opening and closing and a second law of opening and closing, which are different from one another. The electronic control means are moreover designed for reversing with respect to one another the laws of opening and closing of the two inlet valves at each operating cycle of the engine or else with a periodicity equal to more than one operating cycle of the engine, so that each of the two inlet valves alternately follows the first law and the second law of opening and closing.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle comprises a vehicle body, inside which there are defined a passenger compartment, designed to house one or more persons, and a rear loading compartment, which is able to house at least one domestic animal. In the vehicle body there are defined at least one inlet passage for conveyance of air from outside the motor vehicle to the rear compartment and at least one outlet passage for expulsion of air from the rear compartment to outside the motor vehicle, for the purposes of: creating a separation of the aerodynamic flows between the passenger compartment and the rear compartment, where the animal is housed; improving the conditions of respiration and of general well-being of the animal; and aiding the elimination of unpleasant smells from the rear compartment for housing of the animal, and improving as a whole the quality of the air inside the passenger compartment.
Abstract:
A filtering body is obtained for particulate of diesel engines, consisting of a ceramic foam that is produced, starting from a ceramic-material powder-based suspension (slurry), by preparing a preform of polymeric foam material and impregnating the said preform with the ceramic-powder slurry so as to distribute the slurry evenly on the preform, and by then subjecting the body thus obtained to a thermal cycle of sintering in such a way as to pyrolyze the polymeric material and obtain a high-porosity ceramic material. The ceramic-material powder is chosen from among mullite powder, alumina powder, zirconia powder, and mixtures thereof, having very high purity, controlled grain-size, and a high specific surface.
Abstract:
A controlled-luminance lighting device comprising a fluorescent lamp (1), which extends longitudinally between a primary reflector (2) and a secondary reflector (3). The primary reflector (2) is formed by a plurality of cup-like elements (4) set alongside one another, having a generally parabolic shape, through which there extends the lamp (1), and the secondary reflector (3) is constituted by a tray-like element with a curved surface. The primary reflector (2) further includes a tile (9), which extends longitudinally between each pair of cup-like elements (4).
Abstract:
A controlled-luminance lighting device comprising a fluorescent light source of a linear type (5), which extends longitudinally between a reflector (1) that is formed by an elongated body having a curved surface, and a set of transverse fins (3), which are set at a distance apart from one another and which define a grill for directional control of the light emitted by the light source (5). The reflector (1) defines, together with the transverse fins (3), a plurality of elements (2) set alongside one another of a generally parabolic shape.
Abstract:
In an internal-combustion engine with a hydraulic system for variable operation of the valves, the tappet actuated by each cam of the camshaft is slidably mounted in a tubular body which is made of a single piece with a bushing for guiding the valve-actuating piston.
Abstract:
In an internal-combustion engine with a hydraulic system for variable operation of the valves, the piston for operating each valve includes an auxiliary hydraulic tappet.
Abstract:
A particulate filter for diesel engines comprises a metal shell or casing inside which is set a filtering body made of ceramic foam. The filtering body is made up of a plurality of separate elements made of ceramic foam and having a substantially plane and elongated shape, which are set about a longitudinal axis of the shell in such a way as to define, inside the shell, an inner chamber (B) set inside the array of filtering elements and at least one outer chamber (A) set outside the array. The said chambers respectively communicate with the intake pipe and with the outlet pipe, or vice versa, in such a way that, during use, the flow of the engine exhaust gases that traverses the shell passing from the intake pipe to the outlet pipe (or vice versa) is forced to traverse the aforesaid filtering elements, thus assuming a component of radial velocity with respect to the longitudinal axis of the shell.
