Abstract:
An HF olefin/isoparaffin alkylation process is carried out in an alkylation unit with a settling vessel in which the alkylate product is separated from the HF acid catalyst containing water and acid soluble oil (ASO). The density of the liquids in the settling vessel is measured at different levels by means of a nuclear density profile analyzer. The acid strength of the acid phase is determined from the density measurement and an optional temperature measurement. The proportion of water in the acid phase may also be measured separately by measurement of its electrical conductivity to determine the respective contributions of the water and the ASO to the density of the HF acid phase.
Abstract:
Concepts and technologies are described herein for creating variations when transforming data into consumable content. In accordance with the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, a computing device can execute a transformation engine for transforming data into the consumable content. The computing device can be configured to analyze the data to identify relationships among data elements or other portions of the data, and to identify any possible approaches to transforming the data (“worlds”) based upon the relationships and the data. The worlds can be ranked and selected based upon rank. The computing device can obtain rules associated with the selected and apply the rules to the data to generate the output. In some embodiments, the computing device can be configured to obtain and apply feedback regarding the world selection.
Abstract:
An automated food preparation system is described. It allows precise, automated control of the food preparation process, and has the ability to perform an automated cleanup. It comprises at least one manipulator to process and move ingredients, a control system, an autonomously accessible ingredient storage system, and at least one cooking receptacle.
Abstract:
A neural probe deployment system comprising a magnetic probe, a magnetic field generator acting on the magnetic probe, a first guiding tube disposed on a first side of the magnetic field generator, wherein the magnetic probe is loaded inside the first guiding tube, and a second guiding tube disposed on a second side of the magnetic field generator, wherein activation of the magnetic field generator propels the magnetic probe from the first guiding tube through the second guiding tube, thereby deploying the magnetic probe.
Abstract:
Technologies are described herein for ranking visualization types. In order to rank the visualization types, visualization metadata is generated for each of the visualization types and data set metadata is generated for the data set. A suitability score is then computed based upon the visualization metadata and the data set metadata through the use of data mapping rules and chart selection rules. The visualization types are then ranked according to the computed scores. A user interface may then be displayed that includes visual representations corresponding to the visualization types that are ordered according to the ranking. One of the visual representations may then be selected to apply the corresponding visualization type to the data set.
Abstract:
Concepts and technologies are described herein for transforming data to create layouts. In accordance with the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, a computing device can execute a layout generator. The computing device can be configured to receive or retrieve data that includes visual content such as an image and other content such as text. The computing device can analyze the visual content to identify a salient region and/or an invariant region within the visual content. The computing device can access designs for laying out visual content and other content based upon an identified salient region and/or invariant region. The computing device can evaluate the designs to determine if a design matches the data. The computing device can load the data into the selected design to generate the layout.
Abstract:
A method for closing the holes on the end face of a nano-engineered fiber having a core, a cladding with non-periodically disposed voids, and at least one of a coating and a buffer, comprises the steps of: (i) cleaving the fiber portion, thereby forming a cleaved end face; and (ii) applying a predetermined amount of energy via a laser beam to the cleaved end face, the amount of energy being sufficient to collapse and seal the voids exposed at the cleaved end face only to a depth of less than 11 μm.
Abstract:
A handheld illumination device is disclosed. The handheld illumination device may include a housing configured to be held in a hand, an input device configured to be actuated by a user, a battery, an illumination source, and a processing circuit. In response to an actuation of the input device, the processing circuit is configured to start a timer without illuminating the illumination source and, upon expiration of the timer, to illuminate the illumination source.
Abstract:
A collaborative authoring application provides an authoring environment in which two or more users can edit a document concurrently. Each user edits a copy of the document, sends updates to a master copy of the document, and receives updates from the master copy of the document. The authoring environment generally inhibits the users from providing conflicting editing instructions to the master copy of the document. For example, each user can generate a content lock about one or more data units within the document. The authoring environment may synchronize content locks automatically and content only at the request of the user.
