摘要: The invention relates to methods and apparatus for forming fluid distribution channels in fuel cell electrode plates, and to plates produced by such methods. Exemplary embodiments disclosed include a method of forming fluid distribution channels in a fuel cell electrode plate (100), the method comprising traversing the plate between opposing surfaces of a roller (801) and a planar die (802) while applying pressure across the thickness of the plate to thereby form a series of channels across a surface of the plate.

摘要: Verifying authenticity of a hydrogen fuel canister by utilizing at least one unique identifier element (UIE) associated with a fuel canister; inputting the UIE into a communication device; querying a database with said communication device to determine a value for the UIE; placing a hole matrix on a canister into a matrix interface reader; measuring a value associated with the position of one or more movable fixtures in the matrix interface reader; comparing the value obtain via the matrix interface reader with the value associated with the UIE and, using the comparison to authenticate or not authenticate if the hydrogen in said canister may be used, is disclosed.

摘要: An electrical connection system for cell voltage monitoring in a fuel cell stack. The fuel cell stack comprises a plurality of layers and a plurality of electrically conductive connection tabs extending outwardly from at least one face of the stack. The electrically conductive connection tabs are each formed as a laterally extending free portion of a flexible sealing gasket. Other portions of the gasket are disposed to provide sealing engagement between at least two layers of the fuel cell stack. By using the gasket material to form such electrical connection tabs, rather than flow plates, the connection tabs are made flexible to make it easier to connect to standard arrays of connectors in connector assemblies.

摘要: The present disclosure provides methods for turbine-based energy recovery from exhaust streams in fuel cell systems. The fuel cell systems can include an expansion turbine (200) arranged to capture electrical energy from cathode exhaust streams. The cathode exhaust streams (151a, 151b, 151c) can be flowed through an intercooler (250) to be preheated prior to entering the expansion turbine (200), with heat added by transferring heat from a compressed air flow. The methods can include operating the fuel cell system in a temperature-boost mode that includes reducing fan operation related to a condenser to reduce liquid recapture from an exhaust stream and increase exhaust stream temperature for use in turbine-based energy recovery. The temperature-boost mode can be controlled to limit the operation time based on coolant fluid levels in the fuel cell system.
