Abstract:
An optical pickup actuator for use with a recording medium includes a swing arm pivoting in a tracking direction with respect to the recording medium, a first driving unit pivoting the swing arm, an optical pickup facing the recording medium, an elastic member having one end fixed to the swing arm and a free end portion elastically deformable in a focus direction with respect to the recording medium, wherein the optical pickup is coupled to the free end portion of the elastic member, and a second driving unit deforming and driving the elastic member.
Abstract:
An objective lens driving apparatus for an optical pickup includes a blade on which an objective lens can be mounted, a plurality of elastic support members supporting the blade and capable of elastically moving with respect to the blade, and a servo mechanism driving the blade up and down, left and right, and in a rotational direction. The elastic support members are grouped into pairs arranged to face each other with respect to a center of rotation of the blade, and distances between the elastic support members in the respective pairs are substantially identical. By lessening the difference in the amount of deformation between the elastic support members supporting the blade during tilt control, the elastic support members are less likely to move in undesired directions when vibration is applied.
Abstract:
A positioning system using a mobile Internet signal is disclosed. The positioning system includes access points for transmitting downlink signals for mobile Internet communications, an access terminal for generating positioning information using the downlink signals received from the access points and access point information on the access points, and a position determination entity (PDE) for calculating range values between the access terminal and the access points using the positioning information from the access terminal and determining a position of the access terminal using the range values. Since the positioning system determines the position using the mobile Internet signal, an accurate terminal position can be determined even in such environments as downtown, shaded and indoor areas.
Abstract:
An optical pickup and driving method for an optical disk drive holding an optical disk includes a base, an object lens, and a slider supporting the object lens, where the object lens focuses a light on a recording surface of the optical disk. An optical head section includes the slider, where an air bearing floats the slider generated between the optical head section and the optical disk. Wire suspensions movably support the optical head section with respect to the base. A driving unit drives the optical head section in a tracking direction and a focusing direction. A latching unit selectively securely positions the optical head section at a predetermined distance away from the optical disk preventing the optical head section from colliding with the optical disk.
Abstract:
A metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitor of a semiconductor device, and a manufacturing method thereof, includes a lower electrode formed of a refractory metal or a conductive compound including the refractory metal, a dielectric film formed of a high dielectric material, and an upper electrode formed of a platinum-family metal or a platinum-family metal oxide. Accordingly, the MIM capacitor satisfies the criteria of step coverage, electrical characteristics and manufacturing costs, as compared to a conventional MIM capacitor in which the upper and lower electrodes are formed of the same material such as a platinum-family metal, a refractory metal or a conductive compound including the refractory metal. The capacitor is especially suitable for mass production in semiconductor fabrication processes.

The present invention relates to a vaccine enhancing the protective immunity to Hepatitis C virus using plasmid DNA and recombinant adenovirus, more particularly to a vaccine consisting of Δcore-E1-E2 expressing DNA vaccine, nonstructural protein NS3 and NS4 expressing DNA vaccine, nonstructural protein NS5 expressing DNA vaccine and recombinant adenovirus vaccine, and method for administration of the vaccine by priming with the DNA vaccines described above and boosting with the recombinant adenovirus vaccine thereby enhancing the protective immunity to Hepatitis C virus.
Abstract:
An assisted global positioning system (AGPS) system capable of determining a position of a terminal more quickly and accurately by transceiving AGPS data utilizing a public radio paging network, which can transmit a large quantity of data at a very high speed. The present invention provides a mobile terminal with AGPS data through a public radio paging network, and the mobile terminal obtains a GPS signal more quickly by means of the AGPS data provided through the public radio paging network. Accordingly, the present invention reduces the time required for determining a terminal position using the GPS signal.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and a method for providing regional information using a radio paging network. The method includes the steps of: classifying an area into unit regions for providing regional information, assigning radio paging numbers different from each other according to the unit regions, and then constructing a radio paging number management database for managing the radio paging numbers according to the unit regions; storing the database in a regional information providing system and a plurality of information receiving apparatuses; detecting the respective radio paging numbers corresponding to each position of the information receiving apparatuses from the database; storing the detected radio paging numbers in respective corresponding information receiving apparatuses; when regional information of a predetermined region is generated, detecting a radio paging number the predetermined region corresponding to the regional information from the database; transmitting a radio paging message to the information receiving apparatuses through a radio paging network, the radio paging message including the radio paging number and the corresponding regional information; the information receiving apparatuses receiving only a radio paging message including the same radio paging number as that stored in advance; and the information receiving apparatuses outputting the regional information included in the received radio paging message.
