A method of accelerated remediation or bioremediation of contaminated material using an apparatus comprising means for generating a treated contaminated material entraining air stream at a velocity sufficient for entraining the contaminated material therein. The contaminated material is entrained in the air stream and is then microenfractionated using the apparatus to form a microenfractionated contaminated material. Finally, the microenfractionated contaminated material is treated with at least one chemical amendment and/or one biological amendment by discharging the chemical amendment and/or one biological amendment from the apparatus thereby facilitating the accelerated remediation or bioremediation. The chemical amendment can comprise either a chemical oxidizing agent, a chelating agent, or a metallic reducing agent. The preferred metallic reducing agents are zero valent iron, zero valent zinc, zero valent tin, zero valent manganese and zero valent aluminum.

A scroll-type machine is disclosed which is particularly well suited for use as a compressor in refrigeration and air conditioning systems and incorporates a unique arrangement for modulating the capacity thereof. In one group of embodiments the capacity of the scroll-type machine is modulated by relative axial movement between the scroll members so as to form a leakage path across the wrap tips and opposed end plates. In another group of embodiments, modulation is achieved by reducing the orbital radius of one of the scroll members to thereby form a leakage path across the flank surfaces of the wraps. In the second group, a plurality of pin members are moveable from a first and second positions. In a first position the plurality of pin members operably enable the scroll members to orbit and in a second position the pin members restrict the orbiting motion of the first scroll members. Both types of scroll separation may be accomplished in a time pulsed manner to thereby enable a full range of modulation with the duration of the loading and unloading periods being selected to maximize the efficiency of the overall system. A motor control arrangement is also disclosed which may be used with either of the modulation methods mentioned above to increase the efficiency of the motor during periods of reduced load. Additionally, either of the modulation arrangements mentioned above may be combined with a delayed suction form of capacity modulation with or without the motor control feature to thereby achieve better operating efficiency under certain conditions.

This invention relates to a method of using an apparatus is provided for the accelerated remediation of treated contaminated material. In this way, accelerated remediation is facilitated. In another form of the invention, a method of accelerated remediation of treated contaminated material is provided. This method comprises the steps of (a) treating the contaminated material with chemical amendments for facilitating accelerated remediation thereof, (b) providing an entraining air stream having a sufficient velocity for entraining the treated contaminated material therein, (c) entraining the treated contaminated material in the air stream, (d) microenfractionating the treated contaminated material, and (e) discharging the microenfractionated treated contaminated material from the air stream. The microenfractionated treated contaminated material can then be acceleratedly remediated.

The fuel and air supply system of the present invention provides fuel from a fuel pump at a first pressure upstream of a pressure reducer, fuel being provided directly to the fuel injector at a reduced pressure on the downstream side of the pressure reducer. A bypass line in communication with the fuel line upstream of the pressure reducer provides fuel to an air reservoir at the first pressure. The air reservoir lies in communication with a porous member(s) in the fuel injector in an air inlet to a fuel volume within the injector upstream of the pressure reducer. Upon flow of fuel into the air reservoir and closure of normally open fuel and air valves in the reservoir, air at the first pressure is supplied the porous member(s), creating a pressure differential across the member(s), causing air to flow through the porous member(s) to form air bubbles in the fuel volume for two-phase flow through the fuel injector orifice. The air flows for a predetermined time until the reservoir fills with fuel which precludes further air flow into the injector. Upon shutdown of the engine, the valves in the air reservoir open, draining the fuel from the air reservoir and enabling air at atmospheric pressure to enter the reservoir, returning the system for reuse upon engine startup.

A portable storage cart is needed for storing an automobile rooftop that is removable from the vehicle. The foldable storage cart of this invention securely and conveniently transports and stores a vehicle rooftop when it is not on the vehicle. The foldable storage cart includes a base and two generally planar support panels. The base and support panels form a triangle in an upright supporting position. A rooftop is received and supported on a portion of the base and one of the support panels. At least one of the support panels is hingedly connected to the base such that the storage cart folds into an essentially flat position where the second support panel can be nested between the base and the first support panel. In the folded storable position, the storage cart is easily stored out of a user's way while the rooftop is placed on the vehicle.
