Abstract:
A system, method, and computer readable-medium for interrupting client requests in a web environment are provided. The system includes a server, such as a web server, for receiving a request from a particular client. Rather than directly supplying the requested information, the server determines whether unrequested operations should be performed. If unrequested operations should be performed, then the server performs one or more unrequested operations before returning the originally requested information to the particular client.
Abstract:
A communication system is presented in which a base station operates a first cell using a first component carrier and a second cell using a second component carrier. A control channel and reference signals of a first type are provided using the first component carrier. The control channel and the reference signals of the first type are not provided, and reference signals of a second type are provided, using the second component carrier. The base station determines from results of measurements performed on reference signals of the second type whether or not the mobile communication device is within an area covered by said second cell and, if it is, transmits cell configuration information to the mobile communication device.
Abstract:
Auricular nerve stimulation techniques for addressing patient disorders, and associated systems and methods. A representative system includes a signal generator having instructions to generate an electrical therapy signal, at least a portion of the electrical therapy signal having a frequency at or above the patient's auditory frequency limit, an amplitude in an amplitude range from about 0.1 mA to about 10 mA, and a pulse width in a pulse width range from 5 microseconds to 30 microseconds. The system further includes at least one earpiece having a contoured outer surface shaped to fit against the skin of the patient's external ear, external ear canal, or both, the at least one earpiece carrying at least two transcutaneous electrodes positioned to be in electrical communication with the auricular innervation of the patient, e.g., the auricular vagal nerve.
Abstract:
A communication system is presented in which a base station operates a each of a plurality of cells using a respective component carrier. When the base station decides to configure a mobile telephone to use additional cells of the plurality of cells, a access control procedure is initiated to determine for each cell whether the configuration should be allowed.
Abstract:
A Home NodeB (HNB) is provided that can be triggered to dynamically change its operating radio parameters, such as its transmission frequency or its primary scrambling code without having to be rebooted and which communicates the changed operating parameters to the mobile user devices served thereby. In this way a seamless changeover of the operating parameters can be provided that is transparent to users. The HNB may be triggered to change operating parameters by the mobile operating network or by an internal procedure.
Abstract:
A mobile communications device having an LTE radio technology and at least one other technology (for example, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi) determines whether transmissions using the other radio technology causes, or is likely to cause interference in reception of LTE signals. If such interference exists or is likely, then a signal indicating interference is sent to the LTE base station, which can take action to try to mitigate or prevent such interference. The mobile communications device can have a timer so that the interference indicating signal is only sent periodically, either at regular intervals, or whenever the interference is determined to exist after the timer period has expired. In some cases, a signal indicating that the interference level has reduced can be sent, again either at regular intervals, to whenever the interference level changes.
Abstract:
A mobile communications system is proposed in which a two stage procedure is used for setting up Radio Bearers within a mobile communications device and UTRAN. In the first stage, both the mobile device and UTRAN perform ciphering based on an old Start value. In the second stage, the mobile device and UTRAN perform ciphering based on a new Start value. In this way, data communication using the Radio Bearers can start without waiting for the mobile device to confirm completion of the setup procedure.
Abstract:
A first base station for use in a communications network, the first base station having a first cell operating range, comprising: means for obtaining data relating to at least one characteristic of a signal transmitted by a second base station having a second cell operating range which is different from and overlaps with the first cell operating range of the first base station; means for determining a cell selection bias value for the first or second base station using the obtained data; and means for transmitting the determined cell selection bias value to a user device within the first cell operating range of the first base station.
Abstract:
Medical devices and contact assemblies for electrical connections between medical device components are disclosed herein. A medical device in accordance with a particular embodiment includes a patient implantable element having a receiving cavity and at least one contact assembly positioned in the receiving cavity. The contact assembly can include a housing having an annular shape with an inner surface defining at least in part an opening. The contact assembly can further include a contact disposed at least partially within the opening and having a plurality of leaf spring portions.
