Abstract:
An aqueous oral care fluoride treatment composition, a method of providing fluoride to a patient's tooth surface, and a method of reducing the incidence of dental caries, wherein the composition includes: 0.1 wt-% to 3.0 wt-% of a crosslinked poly acid having carboxylic acid side groups; a pharmaceutically acceptable buffer; 1.0 wt-% to 2.5 wt-% of sodium fluoride; 0.025 wt-% to 1.75 wt-% of a multivalent cation salt; and at least 60 wt-% water; wherein the weight percentages are based on the total weight of the aqueous composition.
Abstract:
An oral composition is described. The oral composition can include a solvent having water and a cosolvent chosen from lower alkyl alcohols and acetone; a basic copolymer having basic acrylate monomeric units, basic methacrylate monomeric units, or a combination thereof; no less than 0.5 wt-% of an acid buffering or neutralizing agent; and optionally an active agent. The oral composition can include from about 6° to about 15° wt % of water, from about 30° to about 80° wt % of the cosolvent, and from about 25 to about 55° wt-% of the basic copolymer. The basic copolymer can be dissolved in the oral composition, the oral composition is capable of forming a film on a surface when contacted with an aqueous solution; and the wt-% of each component is based on the total weight of the composition.
Abstract:
Dental curing light systems capable of monitoring the degree of curing of polymerizable dental material. A monitoring light source delivers visible monitoring light at one or more different visible wavelengths and a visible light detector detects the monitoring light diffusely reflected by the polymerizable dental material. The monitoring light has a wavelength of maximum emission (λmax-mon) that does not effectively induce polymerization of the polymerizable dental material. Change in intensity of the monitoring light reflected from the polymerizable dental material is used to determine when a selected degree of curing is reached in the polymerizable dental material.
Abstract:
Dental pastes are provided which include: (i) a compound of Formula (I), (ii) a compound of Formula (II) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and (iii) a dental abrasive.
Abstract:
An oral composition is described. The oral composition can include a solvent comprising water and a cosolvent chosen from lower alkyl alcohols, acetone and a combination thereof, and an acidic copolymer comprising of carboxylic acid monomeric units. The acidic copolymers can be dissolved in the oral composition and the oral composition can form a film on a surface when contacted with an aqueous solution.
Abstract:
A multifunctional polymerizable ionic liquid is described comprising an anion and a cationic group having at least two ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups, each bonded to the cationic group via a divalent non-alkyl linking group. The multifunctional linking groups independently comprise a heteroatom such as oxygen or nitrogen. The linking groups may independently comprise one or more linkages such as an amide, urea, and more typically a urethane or ester linkage. The ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups are typically (meth)acrylate groups. Coatings and coated articles are also described.
Abstract:
An oral composition and a method of delivering an oral composition to a dental structure are described. The oral composition can include a solvent; an acidic copolymer having acidic acrylate monomeric units, acidic methacrylate monomeric units, or a combination thereof; a neutral copolymer having neutral acrylate monomeric units, neutral methacrylate monomeric units, or a combination thereof; and optionally an active agent. The acidic and neutral copolymers can be dissolved in the oral composition and the oral composition can form a film on a surface when contacted with an aqueous solution.
Abstract:
Dental compositions are described comprising an addition-fragmentation agent of the formula: wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each independently Zm-Q-, a (hetero)alkyl group or a (hetero)aryl group with the proviso that at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is Zm-Q-; Q is a linking group have a valence of m+1; Z is an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group; m is 1 to 6; each X1 is independently —O— or —NR4—, where R4 is H or C1-C4 alkyl; and n is 0 or 1. Also described are dental articles prepared from a dental composition comprising an addition-fragmentation agent and methods of treating a tooth surface.
