Abstract: Methods and systems to activate beams for beam switching based on measurements of a downlink reference signal that is QCL Type-D with a downlink pathloss reference signal are disclosed. A UE may measure and report to a base station the RSRP of the reference signal that is QCL Type-D with a target downlink pathloss reference signal. Based on the reported RSRP measurements, the base station may activate the target pathloss reference signal to command the UE to update the pathloss measurements of the target pathloss reference signal for uplink power control of a beam corresponding to the target pathloss reference signal. The UE may determine whether the target pathloss reference signal is considered known for uplink power control based on the timing relationship among the reception of the reference signal from the base station, the transmission of the RSRP measurement of the reference signal, and reception of the activation command.

Abstract: Some embodiments include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for enhanced direct secondary cell activation in a 5G wireless communications system. A user equipment (UE) can receive a Radio Resource Control (RRC) command from a 5G Node B (gNB) via a Primary Cell (PCell) or via a Primary Secondary Cell (PSCell) that includes configuration data for a Secondary Cell (SCell), where the SCell operates in Frequency Range 2 (FR2). The RRC command includes a first Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state for the SCell, and the UE can activate the SCell for the UE based at least on the configuration data, concurrently with the first TCI state for receiving the PDCCH transmission. The UE can receive a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) transmission via a first antenna beam from the SCell, where the first antenna beam is based on the first TCI state.

Abstract: A wireless device may establish communication with a network node and determine a relationship between transmission configuration indication (TCI) and bandwidth part (BWP). The wireless device may then receive an indication of one of TCI or BWP from the network node followed by determining the other of TCI or BWP based on the indication and using the relationship between the TCI and BWP. Finally, the wireless device may perform downlink communication using the indicated one of TCI or BWP and determined other TCI or BWP. The network node may be comprised in a non-terrestrial network and may specify via RRC signaling the relationship between TCI and BWP for the wireless device. The indication of the TCI or BWP may be provided by downlink control information (DCI), medium access control (MAC) control element (CE), an inactivity timer, or RRC reconfiguration commands.

Abstract: Apparatuses for FR2 UL gap configuration, and associated configuring methods. In one aspect, a dedicated radio resource control (RRC) signaling is used to configure a UL gap by transmitting. The UL gap configuration may indicate a reference cell to determine a UL gap pattern for a multi-radio dual connectivity (MR-DC) configuration. Abstract: Techniques discussed herein can facilitate the use of reference signals in active TCI switching. One example aspect is a user equipment (UE), comprising: a memory interface; and processing circuitry communicatively coupled to the memory interface and configured to: receive a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) message that includes an activation command indicating a target transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state; decode the activation command within a decoding period, where the decoding period is a time period allocated for the UE to decode the activation command; receive a TCI resource where the TCI resource is a reference signal; perform time and frequency tracking associated with the target TCI state according the TCI resource; and switch to the target TCI state after performing time and frequency tracking.

Abstract: The present disclosure is related to indication of simultaneous RX beams capability and related measurement resource coordination. In an embodiment, a UE is configured to receive, from a base station, a measurement configuration comprising a measurement period for performing measurements on one or more carriers. The UE is further configured to assign measurement resources to the one or more carriers based on a simultaneous RX beams capability, wherein the measurement resources comprise searchers and RX beams during each measurement occasion. The UE is further configured to determine a measurement period scaling factor for the one or more carriers based on the assigned resources. With this capability, the UE can complete L1 and/or L3 measurements and transmit a measurement report to the base station earlier.
