摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a developing device to develop a latent image on a surface of the image bearing member, a developer bearing member including a magnet therein, which bears developer on a surface thereof by a magnetic force of the magnet and carries the developer towards a developing position facing the image bearing member by being rotated, a limiting member that is placed facing the developer bearing member so as to limit a thickness of a layer of the developer borne on the developer bearing member, and a developing device casing. The limiting member is provided with a magnetizable member having a protruding portion protruding toward the developer bearing member at a part that does not face the magnet and a recessed part at a part that faces the magnet, in which the magnetizable member is disposed upstream of the limiting member in a developer conveying direction of the developer bearing member and is placed such that the protruding portions are nearer to the surface of the developing roller than the limiting member and the recessed part is more distant from the surface of the developing roller than the limiting member. The limiting member is made of a non-magnetizable material.

摘要： A cleaning apparatus is for removing a toner from a surface of an endless belt. The cleaning apparatus includes a blade, a blade holding structure, and an abutment maintaining structure. The blade abuts on the endless belt that is supported on a tension roller. The blade holding structure holds the blade with its rotation restricted, in a movable manner in the direction of motion adjustment to adjust tension on the endless belt, and causes the blade to abut on a winding area of the endless belt with respect to the tension roller. The abutment maintaining structure allows the blade to follow up movement of the tension roller to thereby maintain abutment of the blade on the endless belt.

In particular, the temperature of the fixing roller and/or pressure roller of an operation of a non-full color mode is changed to a lesser degree than that of a full color mode operation. In another embodiment of the present invention, the temperature of the fixing roller is set to an appropriate value when an environment temperature sensor is not working properly, to produce high quality images. In yet another embodiment according to the present invention, the temperature of the fixing roller is set to an appropriate value, when an image forming apparatus is turned off for a predetermined period of time, to produce high quality images.

摘要： In a method and an apparatus for removing an image forming substance such as toner from an image holding member such as a sheet of transfer paper, an unstabilizing agent is provided to the image holding member. An attaching state between the image forming substance and the image holding member stably attaching the image forming substance on a surface thereof is changed to an unstable state by the unstabilizing agent. The image forming substance is separated and removed from the image holding member by making a separating member come in close contact with the image forming substance on the image holding member having the provided unstabilizing agent.
