    摘要: To provide an optical head to produce good servo and read signals by reducing the influence of interference by light reflected from a non-read layer of a multilayer optical disc.The head includes: a first optical system for converging light from a light source on a first or second storage layer; a second optical system for receiving and transmitting light reflected from the first layer and stray light reflected from the second layer when the light is converged on the first layer; a photodetector; and a calculator. The photosensitive areas of the photodetector output signals representing intensities of the light incident there through the second system. The reflected and stray light incident on the second system interfere with each other, and the first and second groups of areas are arranged so as to be equally affected by a variation in intensity caused by the interference. The calculator calculates the difference between sum of a first group of signals supplied from a first group of areas and that of a second group of signals supplied from a second group of areas, thereby generating a focus error signal.

    摘要: An optical head includes a hologram which extracts, from a luminous flux of reflected light from an optical disk, at least a first luminous flux branch which does not include the optical axis of the luminous flux; and a photodetector which receives the reflected light from the optical disk and produces signal output, wherein the photodetector has light-receiving areas which receive the first luminous flux branch of reflected light from an optical information recording medium layer targeted for recording or playback out of the plurality of optical information recording medium layers of the optical disk, the light-receiving areas are placed in such a way that the signal output resulting from a light spot formed by the first luminous flux branch of the reflected light from the optical information recording medium layer targeted for recording or playback is practically the same between the first and second photodetection areas, and a boundary line of the light-receiving areas is located in such a position as not to include light spots formed by luminous fluxes of reflected light from the optical information recording medium layers other than the optical information recording medium layer targeted for recording or playback.

    摘要: An optical pickup device has a first light source and a second light source each adapted for outputting a laser beam of a predetermined wavelength, a photodetector for detecting an intensity of the laser beam outputted from the first light source or the second light source to control the power of the laser beam to be outputted from the first light source or the second light source, a wideband quarter wavelength plate for converting the laser beam outputted from the first light source or the second light source into a circularly polarized laser beam, and a first rise-up mirror and a second rise-up mirror for guiding a P-polarized component in the laser beam converted by the wideband quarter wavelength plate to the photodetector, and guiding an S-polarized component in the laser beam different from the P-polarized component to an optical recording medium. With this arrangement, provided are an optical pickup device and an optical recording medium driving device capable of accurately controlling the power of the light source.

    摘要: An optical head comprising a light source, objective lens, light splitting means, light receiving element, tracking error signal detection means, and spherical aberration detection means. Light splitting means has six regions divided by a first splitting line parallel to a longitudinal direction of information tracks, and second and third splitting lines perpendicular to the first line. Spherical aberration detection means compares a first focal point shift amount obtained by detecting a light spot size formed by focusing light fluxes, created by laser light passing through two regions between the second and third splitting lines, onto the light receiving element, and a second focal point shift amount obtained by detecting light spot size formed by focusing light fluxes, created by laser light passing through the four regions, on the outer side of second and third splitting lines, generating a spherical aberration error signal for detecting spherical aberration at the objective lens.

    摘要: A brake apparatus includes a reciprocally rotating member which reciprocally rotates by an angular displacement smaller than 360.degree.. Two cam surfaces of different shapes are formed on the reciprocally rotating member. A brake drum rotates in association with the reciprocally rotating member. A brake lever is provided with a control arm which engages with a cam surface, and a brake arm which engages with the brake drum. The brake lever swings the brake arm toward or away from the brake drum in accordance with the shape of a cam surface. The control arm of the brake lever can elastically deform, so that it can be located in a position in which it can selectively engage with one of the cam surfaces at the same phase of rotation of the reciprocally rotating member during the forward and reverse rotations thereof.
