In an image recording medium, in which a size of a first electrode layer is smaller than a recording photoconductive layer, image quality is enhanced by preventing an influence of corona discharge at an end portion of the first electrode layer and electric charge injection into the recording photoconductive layer. The on and off state of the retrieving light irradiating means is controlled in a manner that an electromagnetic wave for retrieval is not irradiated onto end portions of a non-imaging region of a retrieving photoconductive layer corresponding to a peripheral portion on an upper surface of the recording photoconductive layer where the first electrode layer is not provided, thus avoiding retrieval of a false image signal attributable to corona discharge at the end portion of the first electrode layer and electric charge injection from the end portion of the first electrode layer into the recording photoconductive layer.

After an electrode layer, composed of a layer of film, is formed on the support body, etching is performed and stripe electrodes are formed. The member on which the line-shaped electrodes have been formed is dipped along its lengthwise direction into and pulled up and out of a vessel filled with blocking layer forming liquid to form the film of the blocking layer. In this way, a continuous blocking layer is formed so as to cover the top and side surfaces continuously of each electrode, whereby dark current flow from the stripe electrodes can be prevented with certainty.

A core cord is inserted into coil-shaped fastener elements made of thermoplastic resin, and the fastener elements are sewn onto a fastener tape by multi-thread chain stitch. Yarn mainly made of thermally meltable synthetic fiber is used for looper thread of multi-thread chain stitch, while yarn of fiber which is not or less meltable is used for needle thread. Entangling points of the looper thread and the needle thread are disposed on the core cord. The looper thread is thermally melted to form melted portions where the looper thread and the needle thread entangle with each other at the entangling points. As a result, melted portions which have become monofilamentary are formed on the fastener elements or no sewing yarn is on the fastener elements due to thermal melting. Thus, there is no fear of cutting of the sewing yarn due to sliding of a slider and the slide fastener is abrasive resistant. The coil-shaped fastener elements is firmly attached to the fastener tape by using such thermally meltable looper thread.

Then, thermal energy according to an image to be recorded is applied to the preheated thermosensitive recording medium by a thermal head, thereby recording a gradation image on the thermosensitive recording medium.
