Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method, an apparatus, and a computer readable medium for a multilayer transmission in a wireless network. For example, the method may include generating a group of binary data bits for resources of each layer of a plurality of layers, mapping the group of binary data bits of each layer of the plurality of layers to respective code words in a signal constellation, combining the code words, and transmitting the combined code word to receiver in the wireless network. As such, the multilayer transmission in a wireless network is achieved.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a base station may identify a synchronization signal (SS) block index associated with a SS block; scramble a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), associated with the SS block, based at least in part on the SS block index; and transmit the SS block including a tertiary synchronization signal (TSS) and the PBCH, wherein the TSS includes information that identifies the SS block index associated with the SS block, and wherein the TSS is frequency division multiplexed with the PBCH in two or more orthogonal frequency-division multiplexed (OFDM) symbols of the SS block. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may transmit feedback, such as hybrid automatic repeat request (HARD) feedback for groups of code blocks rather than for an entire transport block or individual code blocks. The wireless device may transmit an acknowledgement (ACK) or negative-acknowledgement (NACK) to provide feedback for each code block group of a set of code block groups. An ACK may indicate that code blocks in a code block group were successfully decoded, and a NACK may indicate that at least one code block in a code block group was not successfully decoded. Wireless devices may support several techniques for grouping code blocks for feedback reporting to allow for efficient retransmissions and limited overhead. Different grouping schemes may be employed depending on system constraints, device capability, link conditions, or the like.

Abstract: A method of wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a serving cell associated with a wireless network, a radio resource management (RRM) mode indicator that indicates a set of one or more beams for which cell measurement and reporting is to be performed by the UE; performing at least one cell measurement on at least one synchronization signal (SS) block received from at least one neighboring cell; determining, based at least in part on the RRM mode indicator, whether to decode a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) received in each SS block of the at least one SS block; and transmitting a cell measurement report, the cell measurement report based at least in part on the at least one cell measurement, the cell measurement report selectively including at least one beam index based at least in part on whether the PBCH is decoded.

Abstract: Various aspects relate to flexible mobility for a user equipment (UE) based on supported mobility modes of a network and UE conditions. A network may support one or more of a downlink based mobility mode, an uplink based mobility mode, or a hybrid mobility mode for a connectivity state of a UE. A UE may determine a serving cell based on at least one downlink signal. The UE may determine based on the at least one downlink signal, a set of supported mobility modes for the serving cell, including at least one of a downlink based mobility mode, an uplink based mobility mode, or a hybrid based mobility mode. The UE may follow a mobility procedure based on a selected mobility mode from the determined set of supported mobility modes. Other aspects relate to a base station transmitting synchronization signals to support flexible mobility.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may perform a random access procedure to synchronize with a network for uplink and/or downlink communication. The UE may transmit a first type of random access transmission that includes transmitting a preamble or a second type of random access transmission that includes transmitting a preamble and a random access message. The second type may result in reduced delay but may have lesser SNR tolerance than the first type. In some aspects, the UE may determine whether to transmit the first type or the second type, and may transmit the first type or the second type in a random access channel portion of a slot. The random access channel portion of the slot may be occupied by portions of either the first type of random access transmission or the second type of random access transmission, thereby enabling flexible utilization of multiple types of random access procedure.

The method generally includes selecting a first set of random access procedure (RACH) sequences from a second set of RACH sequences, wherein the second set of RACH sequences comprises a pruned set of RACH sequences, and wherein at least some of the first set of RACH sequences selected for a first user equipment (UE) is also available for selection for a second UE, and transmitting the selected first set of RACH sequences to a UE in response to a request from the UE.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide for the transmission of a cell identifier of a serving cell to a user equipment (UE). A Physical Cell Identification Channel (PCICH) is defined for carrying the cell identifier of the serving cell within an uplink-based mobility framework. In some examples, the PCICH may be transmitted in response to a trigger event that requires the user equipment to have knowledge of the cell identifier. For example, the UE may require the cell identifier to demodulate signals received from the serving cell and facilitate transmission and/or reception of user data traffic with the serving cell.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for supporting UL-based mobility without DL zone signals. A DL zone signal may refer to a zone synchronization signal or a zone measurement reference signal. As described herein, a UE may perform certain operations upon power-up or RLF recovery, perform operations in each DRx cycle, and/or perform inter-zone handovers without relying on DL zone signals. Thus, aspects create a more user-centric environment and reduce and/or avoid transmission DL zone signals.
