A process for hydroprocessing middle distillate petroleum streams in two temperature stages. The feedstream is hydroprocessed in two or more first temperature stages operated at a temperature from about 360.degree. C. to about 450.degree. C. The reaction product of the first temperature stage(s) is quenched to a temperature from about 260.degree. C. to about 350, stripped of H.sub.2 S, NH.sub.3 and other dissolved gases, then sent to the second temperature stage which is operated at said quenched temperature range. The product from the second temperature stage is also stripped of dissolved gases. Color bodies produced in the higher temperature first stage are hydrogenated in the last stage.
Abstract:
The invention is for a fixed bed reactor with two phase gas and liquid flow. The reactor has at least one auxiliary bed of solid particles disposed above the main bed of solid particles. The auxiliary bed has separate liquid and gas bypasses comprised of hollow tubing extending through the auxiliary bed. Liquid receptacles provide a liquid seal above the liquid bypasses, thereby preventing gas from bypassing along with the liquid. The liquid spilled from the flow receptacles seeks its lowest level and flows through the auxiliary bed, thereby leaving only the gas to flow through the gas bypasses. This separate feed arrangement allows for a low pressure drop bypassing of the auxiliary bed, when the auxiliary bed becomes fouled and clogged. The invention is also applicable to other apparatuses which use a flow arrangement similar to fixed bed reactors, but which do not necessarily utilize a chemical reaction. One example of such apparatus is a packed absorption tower having co-current downflow of gas and liquid.

Embodiments described herein generally relate to creating an autonomous role-based security system for a database management system, wherein a super user may not always be required. A computer-implemented method is described. The method includes establishing one or more privileges in a database system, each privilege controlling access to an administrative function for the database system. Each privilege is assigned to one or more roles. Each role may always have a minimum set of users with only administrative rights over the role. A request is received from a first user to grant a role to a second user. A database management system determines whether the first user has administrative privileges over the role. If the first user has administrative privileges over the role, the role is granted to the second user. The database system may satisfy the principles of least privilege and separation of duties.

The disclosure relates to a continuous or semi-continuous, cyclic, countercurrent sorption-desorption method for enhanced control, separation, and/or purification of CO2 from one or more sources of a mixture of gases (and/or carbonaceous liquids that have sufficient vapor pressure) through integrated use of solid monolithic sorbents having a selectivity for sorption of the CO2.

The present invention discloses a novel thyroid like compounds of formula (I), wherein R1 R2, R3, R4 and Z are as defined in the specification, method for its preparation, composition containing such compounds and use of such compounds and composition as medicament. Further, compounds of formula (I) has significantly low binding affinity to thyroid receptors and thus considerably devoid of thyrotoxic effects. The invention also relates to the use of the compound of formula (I) for the preparation of a medicament for treating various disease conditions such as obesity, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome and co-morbidities associated with metabolic syndrome.

A compressible object is described that may be utilized in drilling mud and with a drilling system to manage the density of the drilling mud. The compressible object includes a shell that encloses an interior region. The interior region of the shell is at least partially filled with a foam. The internal pressure of the compressible object may be greater than about 200 psi (pounds per square inch) at atmospheric pressure, greater than 500 psi at atmospheric pressure, greater than 1500 psi at atmospheric pressure or more preferably greater than 2000 psi at atmospheric pressure.

A method and system for the selective removal of CO2 and/or H2S from a gaseous stream containing one or more acid gases. In particular, a system and method for separating CO2 and/or H2S from a gas mixture containing an acid gas using an absorbent solution and one or more ejector venturi nozzles in flow communication with one or more absorbent contactors. The method involves contacting a gas mixture containing at least one acid gas with the absorbent solution under conditions sufficient to cause absorption of at least a portion of said acid gas. The absorbent contactors operate in co-current flow and are arranged in a counter-current configuration to increase the driving force for mass transfer. Monoliths can be used that operate in a Taylor flow or slug flow regime. The absorbent solution is treated under conditions sufficient to cause desorption of at least a portion of the acid gas.

A method and system for drilling a wellbore is described. The system includes a wellbore with a variable density drilling mud, drilling pipe, a bottom hole assembly disposed in the wellbore and a drilling mud processing unit in fluid communication with the wellbore. The variable density drilling mud has compressible particles and drilling fluid. The bottom hole assembly is coupled to the drilling pipe, while the drilling mud processing unit is configured to separate the compressible particles from the variable density drilling mud. The compressible particles in this embodiment may include compressible hollow objects filled with pressurized gas and configured to maintain the mud weight between the fracture pressure gradient and the pore pressure gradient. In addition, the system and method may also manage the use of compressible particles having different characteristics, such as size, during the drilling operations.

A method and system are provided for developing images for use in a graphical user interface. In one implementation, the method includes displaying a graphical user interface on a display device, and providing an operating system on a computer that is in communication with the display device. The operating system includes an imaging object structure that is an abstract base class from which subclasses of text imaging objects, picture imaging objects, and pattern imaging objects are derivable. The subclasses of text imaging objects, picture imaging objects, and pattern imaging objects are used to respectively generate text imaging objects, picture imaging objects, and pattern imaging objects for display in the graphical user interface.
