A disk medium, an information recording device, and an information reproducing device are provided, which are capable of efficiently recording sub-information such as security data and, if the sub-information is set as the security information, enhancing a security performance. The disk is divided into a plurality of zones in radial directions. A logical zone count in each zone is obtained by dividing a total recordable frame count in each zone by a frame count in a unit logical zone. For example, a logical zone count N1z in a zone i is given by: N1z=Fzi/F1z where Fzi is the total frame count in the zone i, and F1z is a frame count in the logical zone. However, a value given by the formula (1) is not always an integer depending on the zone, and there might exist a frame (gap region) not used for the logical zone. Accordingly, the security data are recorded in this gap region.

An object of the present invention is to further increase the speed of tilt control while suppressing a useless tilt control operation. Values of focus bias voltages (reference bias values V1 to V6) at a plurality of radial positions P1 to P6 are obtained and stored using a reference disk with a high flatness precision. Prior to a recording and reproducing operation, the values of focus bias voltages (Fo bias values vs1 to vs6) at the radial positions P1 to P6 are obtained, and each of tilt amounts T1 to T6 at the respective radial positions is obtained from a differential value between the reference bias value and the Fo bias value at each radial position. During recording/reproduction, a radial position Pn placed immediately before the recording/reproducing position is detected. Then, tilt control is performed with a tilt amount Tn at the radial position Pn being set as the tilt amount at the recording/reproducing position.

A control circuit provides control of a servo circuit, an equalizer, a laser drive circuit and a magnetic head drive circuit. As a result, the phase difference between a pulse beam and a magnetic field, the intensity of a pulse beam, and intensity of a magnetic field in recording a signal, and also the intensity of a laser beam and the coefficient of an equalizer to remove waveform interference in reproducing a signal are optimized to carry out recording and/or reproduction of a signal correctly to and/or from a magneto-optical recording medium according to the optimized result.

In a magneto-optical recording medium comprising a recording layer and a reproducing layer, a transfer layer and a magnetic shielding layer are successively formed between the recording layer and the reproducing layer respectively. The reproducing layer is prepared from Gd33(Fe70Co30)67 changing from an in-plane magnetization film to a perpendicular magnetization film at 150° C., for example. The transfer layer is prepared from Gd28(Fe90Co10)72 changing from an in-plane magnetization film to a perpendicular magnetization film at 50° C., for example. The magnetic shielding layer is prepared from SiN, for example. The recording layer is prepared from Tb20(Fe90Co10)80 whose saturation magnetization is maximized around the transition temperature of 50° C. of the transfer layer. A signal can be directly recorded in the recording layer with no magnetic influence from the reproducing layer. A magnetic domain in the recording layer is transferred into the transfer layer by static magnetic interaction, and further transferred into the reproducing layer by exchange interaction. Thus, the signal can be stably reproduced in high density.

A magneto-optical head includes an optical member, objective lens, SIL and coil. The magneto-optical head converts a laser beam to an evanescent light and directs it to a magneto-optical recording medium. Further, the magneto-optical head applies a magnetic field to the magneto-optical recording medium. When tilt is caused, it decreases the tilt angle. The optical member refracts the laser beam to a prescribed direction to be directed to the objective lens when the laser beam is displaced from a designed optical axis. The objective lens allows the laser beam to be focused onto a point on an end face of the SIL. Further, the SIL emits the evanescent light. The optical member is arranged in contact with the optical member. As a result, a signal can accurately be recorded or reproduced even when tilt is caused to an optical disk while alleviating the problem associated with the tilt.

The magneto-optical recording medium, including a transparent polycarbonate substrate, an interference layer made of SiN, a reading layer made of GdFeCo, a recording layer made of TbFeCo, an oxidation-preventing layer made of SiN, a irradiation layer made of Al and an ultraviolet-setting plastic layer, is disclosed. Each layer is deposited to a suitable thickness in the above-named order on the transparent polycarbonate substrate. The composition of each element in the reading layer and the recording layer is set to a suitable value to achieve acceptable characteristics. A high recording and reading density is achieved.
