Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and apparatus for drying motor compressors of the type having a semispherically shaped casing with a motor compressor unit mounted in the casing. The drying object is achieved by introducing, under pressure, a directed stream (or streams) of a gaseous drying medium into the gap between the wall of the case and the motor compressor unit at several peripheral points and the internal curvature of the casing causes the streams to respectively leave the gap at other peripheral points.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a bistable electric switch assembly of the type having an actuating permanent magnet pivotally mounted relative to a central axis and held in each of its stable positions by two soft iron pole pieces offset from the central plane. The actuating magnet is responsive to an operating permanent magnet arranged to pass one of the poles of the actuating magnet and disposed at a right angle relative thereto. Fixed and movable contacts are provided with the movable contact being mounted on an armature which forms a variable width air gap with one of the pole pieces. A spring biases the armature and the movable contact towards an open position. A substantial part of the magnetic flux extends across the air gap which sequentially causes closing and opening forces to be exerted on the armature of the movable contact depending on the position of the permanent actuating magnet.
Abstract:
THE INVENTION RELATES TO AN ALARM SYSTEM SWITCHING ARRANGEMENT IN WHICH A TRANSISTOR IS SWITCHED ON BY A FAULT SENSING OR RESPONSE SWITCH IN THE BASE CIRCUIT. A FIRST CIRCUIT BRANCH IN SERIES WITH THE TRANSISTOR CONTIANS A ALARM DEVICE, A HAND OPERATED SWITCH AND A CONTROLLABLE RECTIFIER. A STORAGE CAPACITOR IS CONNECTED TO THE RECTIFIER CONTROL TERMINAL AND A CAPACITOR CHARGING BRANCH IS IN PARALLEL WITH SAID FIRST CIRCUIT BRANCH. THE BAND OPERATED SWITCH MAY BE MOMENTARILY ACTUATED TO TURN OFF THE ALARM DEVICE BUT THIS DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH THE RESETTING OF THE CIRCUIT AFTER THE SENSED FAULT HAS BEEN ELIMINATED BY REASON OF THE CAPACITOR BEING RECHARGEABLE THROUGH THE PARALLEL BRANCH CHARGING LINE
Abstract:
The invention relates to an atomizing nozzle having a tubularly shaped housing with an outlet orifice at one end thereof. An annularly shaped member having a frustoconically shaped backing surface is adjacent the orifice. A frustoconically shaped shell member is held in position against the backing surface with a screw member having a frustoconically shaped male surface. Grooves or slots are provided in the shell member and either or both of the frustoconically shaped surfaces are cooperable with the grooves or slots to provide fluid flow passages.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a gerotor mechanism of the type having an internally toothed ring member which surrounds an eccentrically displaced, externally toothed wheel member having one less teeth. The teeth of the ring member have the form of rollers which is old but the pitch circle of the ring member has a particular diameter relative to a circle which is tangent to the rollers so that in operation the rollers are caused to rotate continuously in one direction only.
Abstract:
A snap action thermostatic switch assembly of the type having a bimetal arm and an omega spring. The assembly has a fixed contact and a pair of resiliently mounted movable contacts on opposite sides of the fixed contact. The movable contacts have lugs and the bimetal arm has an actuating element which engages these lugs to move one contact or the other away from the fixed contact. The bimetal arm has a displacement range so that the actuating element thereof separates from the contact lug of a movable contact that is brought into engagement with the fixed contact. With this construction the tendency of a movable contact to rebound is minimized by reason of the mass associated with a movable contact being reduced the instant the movable contact touches the fixed contact.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a snap-action switch assembly of the type having a main lever arm and an omega spring. The lever arm is acted upon by a bellows and a coil spring which are adjacently positioned on the opposite sides of a fulcrum which pivotally supports the lever arm. The omega spring engages one end of the lever arm and an adjustment feature for the omega spring is provided. The force of the omega spring can be adjusted over a relatively wide range because it does not have to perform the additional function of providing sufficient force to press the lever arm against its pivoting bearing. The adjustment means includes a slide member and a cam means accessible to an operator and for operating said slide member.
Abstract:
An oil burner system in which a fuel oil pump and the air blower are independently driven by a common motor having a single stator and two independently driven rotors. One rotor is connected to the pump and the other to the air blower so that the inertia of the pump drive is reduced and it comes to a stop quicker. The rotor for driving the pump is disposed in an oil-filled compartment so that it is damped. The system is provided with a bypass valve connecting the discharge side of the pump with its suction controlled by the motor shaft which is biased to open the bypass valve when the motor is in a deenergized condition. When the motor is energized the shaft is attracted axially electromagnetically and it closes the bypass valve. When the motor is deenergized it opens the bypass valve, the pump stops relatively quickly and the blower continues to blow air to ensure burning of all oil supplied from the burner and avoid coking on the burner and elsewhere.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a multistage radial piston pump assembly. The assembly has two or more spaced-apart piston carriers attached to a shaft, the piston carriers having radially disposed cylinders with pistons disposed therein. A pivotally adjustable track carrier surrounds each piston carrier. Casing parts between each adjacent pair of piston carriers each has passages in fluid communication with the inlet and outlet ports of the assembly. At least one of these casing parts has the passages thereof in fluid communication with each of the piston carriers on opposite sides thereof through the sidewalls of the casing part. Regulatory means are provided for a three-stage assembly so that the eccentricity of the track carrier surrounding the middle piston carrier is always in the opposite direction of the eccentricities of the other two track carriers relative to the other two corresponding piston carriers.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for making a connection between a pressure pipe and a sheet metal panel of a refrigeration unit pressure sound-absorber. The connection includes a first annularly shaped part soldered to the sheet metal panel. A second part having intersecting right-angle passages has the pressure pipe soldered thereto in alignment with one of the passages. The two parts are then joined by resistance pressure-welding and the pressure pipe is thereafter bent to a desired shape and welded into position relative to the sound absorber.
