    摘要: Alignment systems and methods of alignment for use with lithographic printing plate processing machines are provided. An alignment system in accordance with the present invention includes one or more movable cam surfaces, one or more loading devices, one or more imaging devices, and a control system. The one or more cam surfaces are configured to engage an edge of a printing plate positioned in the alignment system and controllably translate the printing plate to align the printing plate with the alignment system. The one or more loading devices are configured to positively engage an edge of the printing plate against the one or more movable cam surfaces. The one or more imaging devices are configured to view an alignment mark on the printing plate positioned in the alignment system. The control system controls movement of the cam surfaces in response to information comprising the position of an alignment mark as viewed by the one or more imaging devices.

    摘要: A method of applying a registered pattern to a continuous web of material involves determining a position of a next pattern such that the next pattern is in registration with a previous pattern, adjusting the position to maintain a transverse location relative to the web, and adjusting a rotation of the pattern so that the pattern is substantially aligned with a longitudinal axis of the web. Registration features of the web and registration features of the next pattern are used to determine longitudinal, transverse, and rotational errors between the registered position of the next pattern and the path of the web. The registered position of the next pattern is adjusted along a transverse axis of the web according to a transverse error to maintain the transverse location. A rotation of the registered position is adjusted according to an angle that is determined using the transverse error and a distance from a registration feature to a center of the pattern along a longitudinal axis of the pattern.

    摘要: An arrangement for printing flat workpieces is provided and includes an application roller which rolls on the workpiece surface 6 to be printed and thereby applies a printed image to the workpiece surface 8, the application roller forming a printing cylinder 5 or a transfer roller 1 cooperating with a printing cylinder 5, a counter-roller 2 which forms in cooperation with the application roller a printing gap 3, through which the workpiece 4 passes during the printing process, and a transport device 7 for feeding the workpiece 4 into and out of the printing gap 3 formed by the application roller and the counter-roller 2. A detector device 8 is present in the direction of transport of the workpiece 4, before the printing gap 3, for detecting the position of a workpiece front end 9 or an image beginning mark, and cooperates with the transport device 7, 11 and/or the printing cylinder 5; wherein the transport of the workpiece 4, prior to reaching the printing gap 3, is accelerated or delayed and/or the angular position of the printing cylinder 5 can be changed by accelerating or delaying its rotational motion in order to bring into agreement the beginning of the printed image with the workpiece front end 9 or a determined relative position thereof.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for forming continuous webs of paperboard material into multiple box blanks having dual-faced printing. The apparatus comprises a printer for repetitively applying indicia to a first continuous web of paperboard material at predetermined intervals along the longitudinal axis thereof as the first continuous web moves through the printer, the printer including a motor-driven printing cylinder having a circumferential printing surface, and an impression cylinder; at least a first sensor operative to detect reference marks pre-printed on a second continuous web of paperboard material at predetermined intervals along the longitudinal axis thereof; at least one encoder operative to generate signals corresponding to the rotational speed of the impression cylinder; and a computer controller: (1) connected to the at least first sensor to receive information corresponding to the position of the reference marks pre-printed on the second web; (2) connected to the at least one encoder to receive signals corresponding to the rotational speed of the impression cylinder; and (3) connected to the printing cylinder motor and operative to match the rotational speed of the printing cylinder to the rotational speed of the impression cylinder as established by the at least one encoder, and further operative to selectively adjust the rotational speed of the printing cylinder in order to bring the printing applied by each revolution of the printing cylinder into the area defined between adjacent reference marks on the second continuous web as detected by the at least first sensor.

In making the adjustment, the control unit takes into account the shift of the effective print line that arises as a consequence of an adjustment movement of one of the two rollers along an axis that does not run coincident with the connecting line of the axes of rotation of the two rollers, and determines correction values from the relative positions of the two rollers and the inking system, and the angle between the connecting line of the axes of rotation and the axis of adjustment.

The controlling includes pulling the first plate cylinder off impression and phasing the first plate cylinder with respect to the cross cutter using the independent drive. A method for controlling circumferential register and a printing press is also disclosed.
