摘要： A multipurpose drawing tool is provided. One embodiment of the tool that is advantageous for drawing circles one-handedly includes a protractor portion and an elongated radius arm portion. The protractor portion includes an aperture, and a securing member is rotatably mounted in the aperture. The securing member may be a transparent or translucent suction cup for releasably attaching the tool to a drawing surface such as a vertically-oriented dry-erase or chalk board. Alternatively, the securing member may be a transparent or translucent magnet or a conventional magnet configured with a generally annular or toroidal shape. In another embodiment, an improved protractor is provided that includes a straightedge portion, a semicircular portion, a pivot arm and a suction cup or magnet securing member that pivotally secures an end of the arm to a central portion of the straightedge portion.

A coupling assembly slidably and pivotally couples the second member to the first member to allow the second member to slide on and pivot relative to the first member between a first position in which the multi-purpose hand tool can be used to conduct a first marking operation on the surface of the material, and a second position in which the multi-purpose hand tool can be used to conduct a second marking operation on the surface of the material different from the first marking operation.

摘要： A carpenter's gauge for use as a marking gauge or a compass includes a compass bar, a pin carrier, and a marking instrument holder. The compass bar is an elongated bar having a slot formed along its center. The pin carrier slides along the compass bar and includes a pin holder and a knob located opposite the pin holder along the compass bar. The pin holder includes a reference surface that lies substantially in line with a pin held by the pin holder. The knob allows the pin holder to be rotated between a first position where the reference surface lies parallel to the compass bar, and a second position where the reference surface lies perpendicular to the compass bar. When the reference surface lies perpendicular to the compass bar, the gauge may be used as a marking gauge or a compass by inserting a marking instrument into the marking instrument holder. Etched markings along the compass bar indicate the distance between the reference surface or pin and the marking instrument. When the reference surface lies parallel to the compass bar, a nest in the marking instrument holder protects the tip of the pin.

摘要： A tool that aids in the cutting of a circle in drywall. The tool consists chiefly of a substantially flat main body including a plurality of grooves. The grooves are used to guide a cutting tool (e.g. a drywall knife) in a circular path. A fixing pin is attached at a first end of the main body, and a second raised end of the main body is curved or angled upward so that the end of the tool does not become embedded in the drywall during the cutting operation. The raised end of the tool may also be used to push the tool on its circular path.

摘要： A beam compass having exchangeable parts for drawing on a variety of surfaces. The central post of the compass is moveable along the beam to vary the radius, and the central post has a rotatable sleeve with a knob at the upper end of the post. One may hold the sleeve and rotate the knob to draw a circle. The marker carrier at the end of the beam can receive a large marker such as a large felt-tip pen, or a chuck can be inserted, the chuck receiving smaller diameter markers such as crayons or chalk. A knob on the upper end of the chuck can be used to manipulate the compass if desired. Also, the central post terminates in the center holding device to be placed at the center of the circle, and this device is exchangeable to fit the particular surface. In the event the center holding device is a needle, a slidable guard selectively covers the needle for safety.
